Seeing people confused about lois's feelings for clark in gunn's superman and i just... is media literacy really that bad. Or is it that what she's doing is more of male character thing. Because it was so clear to me that her going idk about this, or ik this wouldn't work was about her and her insecurities. Which is made even more clear in the conversation they have before he turns himself in. Like did you not see the way she looks at him throughout the movie or do you just take everything thats said at face value. Like lois trying to self sabotage the relationship ties into the larger themes of the film. Insecurites trying to push superman away and villainize him looking for ulterior motives for what is just his goodness, his kindness but that being what inspires her to believe she deserves it and just excepting him and his love.

Okay but who actually believes that the translated message Lex released was actually true?

Like, if my whole race of people were about to be destroyed my first thought wouldn't be "Hey my literal newborn, bonk every woman you see and conquer this planet" my only thoughts would be hoping and praying my son would make it out alive and become a good man.

I bet the translation is probably more like "Make your own family, where you'll be loved just for being yourself because you're the best of all of us" because that fits the El's far more.

Lex totally lied to make Clark look bad because he's Lex Luthor of course he would!

New Superman movie review except I know nothing about DC

Only SPOILERS are for which characters appear in the movie, no important plot points or character acrs mentioned.

I'm a big mcu fan actually and never saw any other Superman movie adaptations (which is for the best as I noticed from all the other reviews lol). But I decided to check out this one because everybody's been super excited and David Corenswet is hot af. And I liked it a lot.

Listen, I've never been even remotely interested in super strong heroes because why would I? They are super strong and it's just boring. I don't watch movies just to see someone aura farm.

This Superman tho? I buy it. I buy it and I eat it up.

This Clark is very strong obviously, but we still see him struggling in fights. He's struggling and he's having a very hard time, but he still chooses to fight. He's not some god, but someone with powers who's just trying his best.

I'll be honest I legit felt bad for this super strong super human for the first time in soo long after watching superhero movies for the last decade. All because Clark's got SO MUCH on his plate. And he's trying so so hard. And he doesn't do this because he has to, he does it because he's just so frustratingly kind and optimistic. Even Lois can't believe in how naively trusting he is. And it's quite adorable.

I've never been a Superman fan (because all my knowledge were some short clips from Snider's movies), but this Superman stole my heart.

The movie outside of Clark's character is really good too. Plot writes decided to lose the backstory part and jump into established hero-hood and relationships and it's the right choice. Even tho I'd have appreciated to see the full picture as a new fan, my general knowledge was enough to not be lost. At this point many superheroes are pretty established pop-culture figures and general public knows just enough so movie adaptations don't repeat themselves. I didn't notice any obvious plot-holes or inconsistences so props to writers.

I want to specifically point out the interview scene. Apparently it was 15 FIFTEEN minutes long??? It did not feel so at all. Which definitely means it was written well.

The characters are well-written, even the side ones. Writers really showcased their personalities well and made me care about them. Like why do I like this goofy ass looking bowl cut blond man? I'm thoroughly confused😂. The personalities are very distinct too, Even as a non-fan I memorised characters really fast. The design is great too (tho idk how I feel about everyone wearing skinny jeans lol). Mister Terrific made me feel some kinda way. I was sitting there like blah blah blah proper name place name backstory stuff when he was on screen my ass was NOT listening to what was going on.

Tho humor fell a bit flat on me. I could see all the jokes from miles away and instead of laughing could only appreciate the comedic intend lol. It's like the only nitpick I can have about this movie.

I really enjoyed the movie a lot. 10/10, recommend.
