Super Moon
Sunday night was the night of the infamous super moon, also known as the perigean full moon. Super moon's only occurs once to two times a year. These rare moons are the brightest, and closest to the Earth.
A brighter moon? Of course I had to go outside and take pictures of it. My luck, it was ridiculously cloudy outside.
Since I live in the 'boonies' I have the perfect advantage to go outside and shoot at night. No light pollution here! Since I have plenty of trees around, I have to wait for the right time for the moon to be in the right position. So I decided to go out and shoot the stars before I shot the moon. I got some really great shots for a beginner. It was my first time shooting the stars, and I learned it's very time consuming!
I know the best time to shoot at night is with a clear sky, but these clouds were definitely working with me! They gave my photos a very nice magical feel.
After I had my fun shooting the stars, I finally went in my back yard to shoot the moon. I didn't get to shoot long before I heard a strange noise. Since I live in the 'boonies', it's not uncommon for deer, bunnies, and coyotes to pass by every once and a while. So at night it's better to be more alert to my surroundings, since those animals have night vision, and I don't.
I'm just outside, at night, all alone, in the dark, very vulnerable, with an expensive camera. I get a couple of shots in, when I hear a this noise I've never even heard before. I hear the noise coming closer to me and very fast. Whatever was out there was chasing me down. So as any smart photographer would do, I grab my tripod (with camera attached) and run full steam back to my house.
Here's a picture of my attacker. It was a deer. A deer ran me down. I'm not saying that it's a harmless animal, I'm just saying I'm not sticking around to find out if it is or not.
I got the shots I needed, and burned a few calories while I was at it!
