ENJOY!! hope you like it 

It is five minutes to midnight and I am here with a glass of hot cocoa, sitting alone on my balcony. The weather is perfect tonight, the moon shines boldly and the stars seem to dance through the clear night sky. I embrace the warmth from the hot liquid in my mug and close my eyes as I make a wish. Well there is no shooting star, but it does not stop me for casting a wish. I glance over my shoulder to see my phone vibrating on the small table beside me. It is 2 minutes to midnight, I note the time and I pick up the vibrating call. 

“yes?”

“미안해.. am sorry” that’s the first word the person on the other end of the line said. 

I bite my lip, trying to hold myself from fuming or tearing down. 

“괜찮아요 .. it’s okay..I understand. You’re still practicing right?” I ask slowly while trying my best to hold back the tears. 

“It’s a minute to your birthday.. shall we count it down?” His voice sounds hopeful. 

I take a deep breathe, “Sure..” 

“10… please know that I love you…8…” 

“I know.. it’s a bummer you’re not here..” 

“5… 4…” the sound’s no longer stable. 

“Tae? You okay?” I question worried. His voice wavers.. is he okay? Did they over work him again? Working as an idol means hellish training, but come on he can ask for a break. 

“2…1.. happy birthday!” His clear voice echoes through the phone and loud enough to be considered he is here. 

I turn around and smile like a fool when I see Taeyong with his phone between his ear and shoulder.. while carrying an unlit cake and a bouquet of flower. Hey who sell flower this late?! 

“Oh Taeyong!” I end the call and take his phone. His position seems uncomfortable. 

“Thanks! My neck aches.. anyways! Here is your flower. And I will light the candle up.” 

He fumbles with his pockets and after finding the match, he lights the candles up.

“Make a wish! Happiest birthday cherry-bomb!” I blow the candles out after listing my wishes and prayers. 

“You really think I’d miss your birthday right?” I nodded; he hugs me tight with his teddy-bear hug. “What kind of boyfriend am I if I miss your birthday! Did my surprise plan work?” 

“Hundred percent!” I kiss his lips quick and hug him back. 

“Thank you Tae,” I whisper

“You don’t have to. It’s my duty to be your super boyfriend.”
