Thank you, artists. <3
The SPN MBB Directors would just like to take some time to thank our artists. ALL of our participants were outstanding this year, but our artists really came to bat for us when we needed pinch hitters last minute. It was just really inspiring and lovely to see, and we wanted to say thanks by promoing them some!
So please take some time to check out all the artists who participated in MBB 2019. They are all very, very good artists and even better humans. <3

I have an interview for PhD tomorrow and a meet and greet with students tonight and I am SO FREAKING NERVOUS how do you talk to people and why do all my interview answers suck balls. I literally can't remember anything I've ever accomplished that's worth talking about. Anyways hope you are having a good day 😋🥰
hey!! ok so first of all you’re going to be AMAZING even though you’re nervous that just means you’re putting a lot of thought into it and want it to go well and therefore it WILL
my advice? write down your accomplishments before the interview. just bullet points is fine - grants you’ve gotten, research you’ve done, hell even just the research is enough tbh because that’s what universities are really interested in
and above all be yourself:’) because that’s enough
supernatastic101 replied to your post “How long would you say your most recent art post took you to draw?...”
The floor is amazing I would love to see the whole thing! Seriously I can't get over how good it is. The gold tones everywhere makes my heart
Here is what the whole background looks like, I’m happy you wanted to see it! All the little swirlies tried to make me go blind, LOL.

OKAY SOMEONE EXPLAIN THE GAY THING. Why is flannel associated with being gay??????
I mean I’m not an expert on this subject but I’ve always assumed the stereotype stems from flannel becoming an identifier of sorts for a certain “type” of lesbian when lesbians first started coming into the public eye in the mid-1970s.
I think it kind of started as being associated only with “butch” lesbians back in the 80s and 90s when flannel was super popular because of the grunge movement??? And the “butch” archetype has always been more distinguishable because of how far is strays from the ideals of how women are “supposed to look.” So you’d kinda see a woman with short hair and baggy jeans and flannel shirt and rudely assume that she was gay.
Then flannel disappeared for like twelve years until the hipsters brought it back (at least I’ve always thought it was the hipsters, if that’s wrong then I would like to issue a formal apology and thank you to the wonderful humans responsible for bringing flannel back).
Once it was back there was like this awesome movement by queer women to reclaim flannel as an identifier for all queer women despite personal aestetic and even sexual orientation. Like I’ve seen a huge flow of encouragement for LGBTQ+ girls to wear plaid to establish themselves as someone who likes women, whether they’re gay, bi, pan, ace, etc.
So basically now it’s just a comfortable and fashionable way of saying “yes, i like girls” while drawing on and honoring some cool lesbian history!
And it’s also kind of a safe way to express your sexuality without having to come out because the stereotype doesn’t really seem as loud as it used to be?? So like I’m not out to my family, but I like to wear to my flannel when I’m around them because it’s the only way I can be honest about who I am without endangering myself.
At least that’s the impression I have... I could be grossly wrong and if someone would like to correct or refute me, please do :)
