Accelerated healing - The ability to heal quicker than normal. Examples of characters with this power include Deadpool (Marvel) and Wolverine (Marvel). This is different to regeneration (110) which is the ability to recover from an injury even accelerated healing would not be able to handle. A character with regeneration (110) might survive having their head cut off or any major dispersal of their bodily mass, unlike a character with just AH.
Acid generation - The ability to generate acid; can be manifested through touch or as a spray. Examples of characters with this power include the Man-Thing (Marvel).
Age manipulation (on others) - The ability to age others. Sub-areas include the ability to make another person younger, older and/or negate their ageing. Examples of characters with this power include Half-Life (Marvel). Age manipulation is a specialised form of biological manipulation (15).
Age manipulation (on self) - The ability to control your own age. Examples of characters with this power include The Russian (Heroes). Age manipulation is a specialised form of biological manipulation (15).
Air manipulation - The ability to control air. Examples of characters with this power include the Red Tornado (DC) and Whirlwind (Marvel).
Alchemy (gold) - This power is a subset of elemental transmutation (35). For centuries, alchemists tried to create a Philosopher’s Stone that would transmute base metals such as lead into gold. Examples of characters with this power include King Midas of Greek Mythology and Nicolas Flamel (Harry Potter).
Alien mimicry - The ability to mimic the powers of extraterrestrials. Examples of characters with this power include Ben 10 (Cartoon Network) and Ultra the Multi-Alien (DC).
Animal control - The ability to control animals. Examples of characters with this power include Cruella (OUAT) and Aquaman (DC) who can only control aquatic creatures. Tarzan (Disney) can some sometimes control some jungle animals. Generally, this power is a subset of mind control (78) and the standard explanation is that animals have different/weaker minds so a character that would not exercise mind control over a human could control some types of animals. A variation of this power could be animal communication in which you persuade rather than control animals. Eg; Doctor Doolittle. Animal possession is the ability to actually enter the mind of the animal and effectively become one with the animal. Eg; the Wargs (Game of Thrones).
Animal mimicry - The ability to gain the powers of an animal but not necessarily have to take on the form of the animal. Examples of characters with this power include Animal Man (DC) and Vixen (DC).
Animal morphing - The person turns into the animal and gains the powers of that animal. Eg; vampires turning into bats, werewolves turning into giant wolves, etc. Modern examples include Beast Boy (DC) and Snowbird (Marvel).
Animate objects - The ability to give some semblance of life to objects. Examples of characters with this power include Selene (Marvel).
Astral awareness - The ability to perceive astral forms. Examples of characters with this power include the Hulk (Marvel). The Hulk can see the astral form of Doctor Strange (Marvel) and have conversations with him in this form.
Astral trapping - The ability to keep an astral form on the astral plane. Examples of characters with this power include the Shadow King (Marvel).
Astral travelling - The ability to travel in one’s astral form. Doctor Strange (Marvel) is an example of a character with this ability.
Biological manipulation - The ability to control aspects of another living creature’s biological make-up. This includes, but is not limited to; genetic alterations, physical distortion/augmentations, healing, disease, and biological functions. Examples of characters with this power include Elixir (Marvel) who can change both another living creature’s biological make-up, and his own.
Body part substitution - The ability to replace one’s limbs or other body parts with those of another. This is a particular version of biological manipulation (15). Examples of characters with this power include Terror (Marvel).
Bone manipulation - The ability to manipulate one’s own body. This includes, but is not limited to; the generation of new bone mass, projecting bones out from the skin, or rearranging one’s own bones. This is a specialised version of biological manipulation (15). Examples of characters with this power include Marrow (Marvel) and Spike (Marvel).
Cold manipulation - The ability to reduce the kinetic energy of atoms and thus reduce temperature. CM seems to be a specialised type of telekinesis (137). Examples of characters with this power include Tracy Strauss (Heroes).
Concussion beams - The ability to generate of transform various forms of energy into a “solid” or concussive beam of energy. This is a particular type of energy blast (37). Examples of characters with this power include Cyclops (Marvel), Darkseid (DC), and Iron Man’s repulsor rays.
Cosmic awareness - The ability to sense changes in the universe. Captain Marvel (Marvel) has this ability.
Cyberpathy - The ability to interface with computers directly through the mind and/or control computers mentally Examples of characters with this power include Sage (Marvel). Cyborgs often have some degree of cyberpathy as is the case with Robocop and Deathlok (Marvel). Cyberpathy is not technopathy. A person with technopathy (136) can build the computer and probably many other types of machines. A person with cyberpathy can control a computer but cannot necessarily build a computer. Cyberpathy is a software power. Technopathy is a hardware power.
Darkness manipulation - The ability to manipulate darkness/shadows. Examples of characters with this power include the Shroud (Marvel), Shade (DC) and Shadow Lass (DC). Shadow-Thief (DC) can turn into an apparent shadow.
Density control - The ability to increase or decrease the natural density of an object and/or one’s self. Examples of characters who can increase their own density include Vision (Marvel) and Thunder (DC). Star Boy (DC) can increase the density of objects.
Disease manipulation - The ability to control diseases. Examples of characters with this power include Plague (Marvel) and Infectious Lass (DC).
Disease resistance - As a rule, superheroes remain surprisingly disease free. Examples of characters with this power include Superman (DC) and the Hulk (Marvel) who are immune to all terrestrial diseases (although Superman did once get a Kryptonian disease called Virus X.)
Disintegration - The ability to disintegrate matter through touch or through beams. Examples of characters with this power include Wither (Marvel) and Plasmus (DC).
Duplication (physical) - The ability to create physical duplicates of oneself. Examples of characters with this power include Jamie Madrox (Marvel) and Duplicate Damsel (DC).
Duplication (temporal) - The ability to bring past and future versions of oneself back to the present. Examples of characters with this power include Flashback (DC) and Damian Tryp (Marvel).
Earth manipulation - The ability to control earth; sand, stone, rock, lava, dirt, or other minerals. Examples of characters with this power include Petra (Marvel) and Terra (DC). This power is a limited form of molecular manipulation (81).
Echolocation - The use of reflected sound to figure out the environment. Echolocation is the human equivalent of sonar. Echolocation is not radar sense (104). Examples of characters with this power include the Man-Bat (DC). The Man-Bat emits high-pitched sound to make his power work. Daredevil (Marvel) probably has both radar sense and echolocation but has to depend on background noise, unlike the Man-Bat. Radar sense probably involves emitting some sort of electromagnetic pulse from the brain. Ambient sound can confuse echolocation. Ambient sound would not affect radar sense.
Ecological empathy - The ability to sense the overall well-being and conditions of one’s immediate environment and natural setting stemming from a psychic sensitivity to nature. Examples of characters with this power include Storm (Marvel) and Swamp Thing (DC).
Elasticity - The ability to stretch, deform, expand or contract one’s body into any form imaginable. Examples of characters with this power include Mister Fantastic (Marvel), Elastigirl (Disney/Pixar), and Plastic Man (DC). Plastic Man has the additional power of substance mimicry (122). Plastic Man’s body is made out of some hard to define substance that is like plastic. This substance is far more durable than the human body and therefore Plastic Man is practically invulnerable (63) and immortal (59).
Electric manipulation - The ability to control electricity. Examples of characters with this power include Electro (Marvel) and Black Lightning (DC).
Electrical transportation - The ability to travel through electrical conduits (such as power lines or telephone lines) and can enter through devices such as TVs, electrical poles, or computers. Examples of characters with this power include Atom (DC) and Livewire (DC).
Elemental transmutation - The ability to turn an object from one element into another element. The ability to turn your own body into a different element is not elemental transmutation but substance mimicry (122). Examples of characters with this power include Element Lad (DC) and Alchemy (Marvel). ET is not molecular manipulation (81). ET means the ability to control objects at the atomic level. Molecular manipulation (81) is the ability to control objects at the molecular level.
Empathy - The ability to read or sense the emotions and/or control the emotions or feelings of others. Examples of characters with this power include Empath (Marvel) and Raven (DC).

Heat resistance - The ability to resist extreme heat. Characters that have fire manipulation (47) and heat manipulation (52) will have heat resistance, but HR shows up as a specialised type of invulnerability (60) in the oddest places and a good example of this is Sunspot (Marvel).
Ice manipulation - The ability to control ice; an extension of cold manipulation (18). Mix cold manipulation and add the ability to control the movement of ice and you have ice manipulation. Examples of characters with this power include Iceman (Marvel), Ice (DC), and Queen Elsa (Disney).
Illusions - The ability to fool the perceptions of others so they perceive something that is not real. Examples of characters with this power include Mastermind (Marvel), King Chimera (DC), Princess Projectra (DC), and Sasuke Uchiha (Naruto).
Immortality - The ability to live forever. Examples of characters with this power include Belasco (Marvel) and Vandal Savage (DC).
Innate capability - The ability to know or understand something without the need of studying or previous experience. Examples of characters with this power include Forge (Marvel).
Intangibility - The ability to move through solid matter like a phantom. Examples of characters with this power include Kitty Pryde (Marvel) and Phantom Girl (DC).
Invisibility - The ability to render the user unseen to the naked eye and/or other forms of perception. Examples of characters with this power include the Invisible Woman (Marvel), Violet Parr (Disney), and Invisible Kid (DC).
Invulnerability - The ability to immune to one or more forms of physical, mental and spiritual damage and influence. Examples of characters with this power include Butterball (Marvel), Superman (DC), and Brit (Image). Invulnerability is not accelerated healing (1). When you are invulnerable, you don’t have to heal since you didn't get hurt in the first place.
Kinetic absorption - The ability to absorb forms of kinetic energy into oneself and utilize it in some way, such as by converting it into physical strength or using it to power energy blasts. Examples of characters with this power include Strong Guy (Marvel) and Sebastian Shaw (Marvel).

Pheromone manipulation - The ability to generate and control pheromones which may have various effects. Examples of characters with this power include the Crimson Fox (DC) and Wallflower (Marvel).
Photographic reflexes - The ability to imitate any complex movement after watching that movement only once. Examples of characters with this power include Taskmaster (Marvel). This is a subset of Hyperkinesic Perception (HKP). HKP is the ability to perceive and process spatial information in a manner vastly superior to that of your average person.
Plant manipulation - The ability to control plants. This power can include the ability to make plants grow more quickly, mutate and move. Examples of characters with this power include Swamp Thing (DC) and Poison Ivy (DC). A subset of this is plant awareness, which is the ability to perceive events using plants as a conduit for enhanced perception. In Game of Thrones, a Greenseer can perceive events in the past, present and future via the Weirwoods. Plant manipulation is a specialised form of biological manipulation (15).
Poison generation - The ability to assault others with one or more varieties of toxins, with widely disparate effects. Examples of characters with this power include Cobra (Marvel) and Poison Ivy (DC).
Portal creation - The ability to create wormholes, discs or other spatial portals for transport between two non-adjacent locations. Examples of characters with this power include Spot (Marvel) and Gates (DC).
Possession - The ability to take control and inhabit the body of an individual. Examples of characters with this power include Nocturne (Marvel) and Jericho (DC).
Power absorption - The ability to absorb the powers of another being. Examples of characters with this power include Rogue (Marvel) and the Parasite (DC).
Power bestowal - The ability to give powers to another being. Examples of characters with this power include Galactus (Marvel) and Synergy (Wildstorm).
Power mimicry - The ability to copy the powers of another being. Examples of characters with this power include Amazo (DC) and the Super-Adaptoid (Marvel).
Power negation - The ability to turn off the powers of another being. Examples of characters with this power include Leech (Marvel) and Scrambler (Marvel).
Power sensing - The ability to sense powers in another being. Examples of characters with this power include Caliban (Marvel) and Nemesis Kid (DC).
Precognition - The ability to perceive the future. Examples of characters with this power include Destiny (Marvel) and Nura Nal (DC).
Prehensile hair - The character has hair that whose movement can be controlled. Examples of characters with this power include Medusa (Marvel) and Spider Girl (DC).
Prehensile tail - The character has a trail whose movement can be controlled. Examples of characters with this power include Scorpion (Marvel) and Nightcrawler (Marvel).
Probability manipulation - The ability to make unlikely events more likely. Examples of characters with this power include Scarlet Witch (Marvel) and Longshot (Marvel).
Psychic weapons - The ability to create weapons out of psychic energy. Examples of characters with this power include Quentin Quire (Marvel) and Wild Thing (Marvel).
Psychometry - The ability to relate details about the past or future conditions of an object or location usually by being in close contact with it. Examples of characters with this power include Adrienne Frost (Marvel) and Jack Hawksmoor (Wildstorm).
Radar sense - The character generates electromagnetic waves which travel outward in order to perceive objects like radar.
Radiation immunity - The ability to not suffer from the ill effects of radiation. Generally a part of radiation manipulation (106). Starfire (DC) Is an example of a character that has this specialised type of invulnerability.
Radiation manipulation - The ability to generate and/or manipulate toxic radiation. Examples of characters with this power include Radiation Man (Marvel) and Radiation Roy (DC).
Reactive-adaptation - The ability to adapt in response to immediate threats. Examples of characters with this power include Lifeguard (Marvel) and Doomsday (DC). This is a limited version of biological manipulation (15).
Reactive-evolution - The ability to evolve in order to deal with immediate threats. Examples of characters with this power include Darwin (Marvel). This is a limited version of biological manipulation (15).
Reality warping - The ability to change of manipulate reality itself. Examples of characters with this power include Franklin Richards (Marvel) and Lucifer (DC).
Regeneration - Regeneration is the ability to survive major injuries that accelerated healing (1) cannot handle. Some gods and the Eternals (Marvel) have the power of regeneration and can only be destroyed if a significant number of their molecules are dispersed. Regeneration means the character is near immortal, not just resistant to injury. The Doctor (Doctor Who) has his own specific form of regeneration that involves the Doctor assuming a new body and new personality. Adam Warlock (Marvel) has something similar to this and forms a cocoon to recover from fatal wounds. In these cases, one can observe that accelerated healing is a passive process while regeneration is an active event.
Resurrection (others) - The ability to resurrect other people.
Resurrection (self) - The ability to resurrect one’s self. Examples of characters with this power include Mister Immortal (Marvel) and Resurrection Man.
Seduction - The ability to make another person fall in love. Examples of characters with this power include Starfox (Marvel) and Lorelei (Marvel).
Self transmutation - A power to turn one’s self into just about any type of energy, matter, animal, or character. Many characters can turn into a substance (substance mimicry), a type of energy (energy mimicry), or an animal (animal morphing) but not all three. Loki (Marvel) has stated that “I can turn into anything, as long as it’s me.” Other examples of characters with this power include Agamemno (DC). Amazo (DC) and the Super-Adaptoid (Marvel) are examples of self transmutation as a side effect of their power mimicry (95) ability.
Self-detonation - The ability to make your body or parts of your body explode. A subset of molecular combustion (80). Nitro (Marvel) is a character with this ability.
Shape shifting - The ability to change your shape and/or appearance but not mimic the power and special qualities of the object, person, or animal you appear to be. Examples of characters with this power include Mystique (Marvel), Chameleon Boy (DC), and the Chameleon (Marvel).
Size growth - The ability to increase body size. Examples of characters with this power include Henry Pym (Marvel) and Giganta (DC).
Size reduction - The ability to decrease body size. Examples of characters with this power include Ant-Man (Marvel) and the Atom (DC).
Sonic scream - The ability to generate vocal sounds of a high amplitude than a normal human. Examples of characters with this power include Banshee (Marvel) and Black Canary (DC).
Sound manipulation - The ability to manipulate sound. Examples of characters with this power include Klaw (Marvel) and the Vibe (DC).
Spider Webs - The ability to create a spider webbing material. For example, Spider-Man (Marvel).
Substance mimicry - The ability to turn part of one’s body or entire body into a substance, generally a different element. Examples of characters that can mimic only one substance include Colossus (Marvel), Sandman (Marvel) and Hydro--Man (Marvel). Examples of characters that can turn different parts of their body into different substances include the Absorbing Man (Marvel) and Metemorpho (DC).
Summoning - The ability to summon beings for assistance. Examples of characters with this power include Master Pandemonium (Marvel) and Kid Eternity (DC).
Superhuman accuracy - The ability to use ranged weapons and/or improvised weapons that can be thrown with superhuman accuracy. Examples of characters with this power include Bullseye (Marvel) and Deadshot (DC).
Superhuman agility - The ability to react faster than a normal human and to possess greater flexibility and with higher/farther jumping capacity. Examples of characters with this power include Beast (Marvel) and Dove (DC).
Superhuman durability - The ability to sustain numerous serious injuries and continue fighting. This ability is a function of both physical factors such as martial arts training and willpower rather than invulnerability. Examples of characters with this power include Batman (DC) and Daredevil (Marvel). This is the comic book equivalent of a woman lifting a car to save her child. Some characters show an ability to regularly tap into inner resources that allow them to do superhuman feats, despite not being superhuman physically.
Superhuman endurance - The ability to have a higher resistance to one or more forms of damage before being injured as well as the ability to exert one’s self in an activity indefinitely without becoming tired and/or survive for long periods of time without consumption or water.
Superhuman intelligence - The ability to have intelligence quotient far above that of a genius level. This ability can be so evolved that its user can gain psionic abilities and resist both mind and other psionic attacks. Examples of characters with this power include Leader (Marvel) and Braniac (DC).
Superhuman reflexes - A reflex action, differently known as a reflex, is an involuntary and nearly instantaneous movement in response to a stimulus. Spider-Man (Marvel) has superhuman reflexes due in part to his spider sense that allows him to dodge surprise attacks that other super humans with super speed and super agility cannot.
Superhuman senses - The ability to see, smell, taste, feel and/or hear more than a normal human. Examples of characters with this power include Sabretooth (Marvel) and Daredevil (Marvel).
Superhuman speed - The ability to move, run, fly, react, think, and sense at speeds much faster than a normal human. Those with this ability also have accelerated brain activity which allows them to process sensory information so fast that everything seems to be moving in slow motion while the user moves at normal speed. Examples of characters with this power include Quicksilver (Marvel) and the Flash (DC).
Superhuman stealth - The superhuman ability to move in a covert way. Examples of characters with this power include Ninjak (Valiant) and Elektra (Marvel).
Superhuman strength - The ability to have a level of strength much higher than normally possible given their proportions. Superhuman strength is a ubiquitous superpower but two characters stand out, including the Hulk (Marvel) and Superman (DC).
Superhuman vision - The ability to see farther and with greater accuracy and detail than humanly possible. The Executioner (Marvel) is a good example of superhuman vision. A person with superhuman vision can see better in the dark than a normal human but does not necessarily have night vision (83). A person with superhuman vision can see farther than a normal human but does not necessarily have telescopic vision.
Superpower manipulation - The ability to control, change, decrease and/or enhance the superpowers of others. Examples of characters with this power include Fabian Cortez (Marvel) and Apocalypse (Marvel) who can manipulate superpowers through genetic engineering. Power absorption (93), power bestowal (94), and power negation (96) are subsets of this power.
Technopathy - The ability to develop, create, build, manipulate and tweak technology to a superhuman degree. Examples of characters with this power include Forge (Marvel), the Fixer (Marvel), and Gizmo (DC). Technopathy is not cyberpathy (21).
Telekinesis - The ability to manipulate and control objects with the mind, often in ways not visible to the naked eye. Examples of characters with this power include Jean Grey (Marvel) and Maxima (DC).
Telepathy - The ability to read the thoughts of, or to mentally communicate with others. Examples of characters with this power include Exodus (Marvel) and Saturn Girl (DC).
Teleportation - The ability to move from one place to another without occupying the space in between. Examples of characters with this power include Nightcrawler (Marvel) and Misfit (DC).
Telescopic vision - The ability to magnify and extend one’s vision to various levels. Examples of characters with this power include Peepers (Marvel) and Superman (DC).
Time manipulation - The ability to affect the flow of time by slowing, accelerating, reversing, or stopping time. Examples of characters with this power include Tempo (Marvel) and Zoom (DC).
Time travel - The ability to travel back or forth through time. Examples of characters with this power include Trevor Fitzroy (Marvel) and Time Trapper (DC).
Toxin resistance - The ability to be exposed to and/or ingest toxins and not be harmed. This specialised type of invulnerability (60) complements poison generation (90) or the character might poison themselves.
Voice mimicry - The ability to mimic the voice of another being with perfect accuracy.
Vortex breath - The ability to inhale/exhale with superhumanly powerful strength. This can range from exhalation on par with gale force winds to inhalation on par with the power of a gravitational vortex. In some cases, freezing temperatures can also be achieved. Examples of characters with this power include Awesome Android (Marvel) and Superman (DC).
Wall crawling - The ability to adhere to solid surfaces, including walls and ceilings. For example, Spider-Man (Marvel).
Water breathing - The ability to respire through water in lieu of gaseous medium. Not to be confused with an ability to go without breathing or to be able to breathe an alternative air supply. Examples of characters with this power include Namor (Marvel) and Aquaman (DC).
Water manipulation - The ability to control water including but not limited to making constructs from water. A person with this power cannot turn themselves or others into water. Examples of characters with this power include Mera (DC), Percy Jackson (Percy Jackson & the Olympians), and Waterbenders (The Last Airbender).
Weather manipulation - The ability to control or mentally affect the weather. This includes the ability to generate various natural phenomena (rain/tornadoes/lightning/ocean currents/etc) or control the intensity of the weather. Examples of characters with this power include Thor (Marvel), Storm (Marvel) and the Weather Wizard (DC).
X-Ray Vision - The ability to see through solid matter. Examples of characters with this power include Dr Xavier (X: The Man with the X-Ray Eyes) and Superman (DC).
