1) Would you be able to see Thestrals if you lived in the Harry Potter universe?
2) What word would you ban from the English language?
UTILIZE. I despise this word. There is NO sentence in the human language in which "use" cannot be, well, used just as effectively as "utilize." Utilize is a useless word that people use in order to sound snobbish and fancy and I HATES IT I DO.
3) What’s the best food to eat when hungover?
I don't drink alcohol, so I literally cannot answer this question XD But I assume that the point of hungover eating is to get rid of the hangover, so I will say something heavy in protein, like eggs, with aspirin unhealthily crushed into it.
4) Where’s the best place you’ve travelled to?
Oh this is a tuffy, because I travel... a lot... and there were few places I've traveled to that I legitimately despised, or even disliked, and each place has its own "best" to it. But my top three are: New Zealand (yes the entire country you didn't have to say I had to be specific hush), Nova Scotia, and Alaska. I could happily live in any of these places for the rest of my life. Or, alternatively, someplace fairly benign. Like a supermarket. Or a farmer's market. They're kinda magical best places too, you know?
5) Do you cry easily over fictional characters? If so, when is the last time you’ve cried over them?
Literally, no - I really only cry when I'm incredibly frustrated/downright angry, or exhausted beyond belief. But yes, I am way too invested in fictional characters. I get my heart ripped out through my chest on an incredibly daily basis, because I spend all of my free time (in between teaching labs, down time in the archives, driving to and from places, etc) thinking about them. I think the last time I had my heart ripped out through my chest was reading the third Flavia de Luce book. I am Half-Sick of Shadows. But that's because that's the last book I had the time to read. Which was, like, back in October 2012. Umm, I just started re-watching Due South and CHAOS, and both of those pull on my heart strings, so?
But seriously, daily occurrence here. You want to see me start blubbering incoherently through the keyboard, just mention a fictional character.
6) What’s the scariest thing you’ve ever done?
Um, unintentionally? Probably that time I was being followed by a strange car late at night and I thought it would be a brilliant idea to get out and CONFRONT THEM ABOUT IT. (Yeah, I wasn't really thinking.)
Other than that, any time I have greatly offended someone, or made a mistake, and had to own up to it. I still expect my mistakes to be met with a fist, so I try really hard to NOT screw up.
7) Do you have any really bad habits?
I PROCRASTINATE LIKE THERE IS CONTINUALLY A TOMORROW. AND THEN I PLAN TO PROCRASTINATE DURING THAT TOMORROW, TOO. I HAVE QUALIFYING EXAMS MONDAY MORNING OVER MATERIAL I HAVE NOT EVEN OPENED MUCH LESS GLANCED AT AND HERE I AM FILLING OUT THIS BLOODY QUESTIONAIRE FOR LIKE 45 MINUTES.
8) If you had the opportunity to travel with the Doctor, where would you first choose to go?
(2003, my parent's house, at ~12:00 PM during the spring school year. There is a farewell I never got to give - a someone who will be travelling with us.)
Dogs. dogs, dogs, dogs. I have nothing against cats - I really like them, and I kitty-sit for my friends all the time, but nothing beats having a gigantic monster dragon to keep you warm and safe at night, and who will gladly go exploring and adventuring with you every day.
10) Have you ever met a celebrity? If so, how was the experience?
If I have ever met a celebrity I would not even know it because I just don't remember them or who they are or why they are even celebrities. I supposedly met some famous rapper's grandmother at an apple orchard once, but I don't even remember the rapper's name now, and she (The grandmother) had to tell me who he was. Also there was no proof she was who she said.
ummmm I've met a lot of academic hotshots though, do those count? They're celebrities in really small circles... and I didn't like most of them.
