Valentine's Day Four Course Menu

We have found for the lovebirds out there a four course menu! There will be no need to find recipes from different websites all over the internet and compile them all together in one place as we have done it for you! This specific menu of recipes was made by Martha Stewert and featured on delish.com. 

Meals for Two has compiled this menu into one post, and it will be the last post of our Valentine's Day recipes. Expect to see it within the hour!

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is just two weeks and a day away! February 1st through the 3rd we will be posting a total of 21 recipes for your delight! We understand that not everyone likes to go out to eat on this day. For some, cooking a meal at home is more romantic than a quiet, candle lit table around others who are out for the same reason. Dim down the lighting at home, light some candles, and make a meal your significant other won't forget! Maybe you can cook it together!

Caramelized White Chocolate "Hot Chocolate"

Ingredients

4 ounces white chocolate 6 ounces milk 2 ounces cream Vanilla bean, optional Cinnamon stick, optional Salt, to taste

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 300°F and put the white chocolate in a glass or ceramic baking dish. No need to chop. Toss it in the oven and roast, stirring every 10 minutes or so. The white chocolate will be lumpy and crumbly, but that’s okay. Keep going until it takes on a peanut butter-like color, about 30 minutes total.

Meanwhile, bring the milk and cream to a simmer in a small pot. If you like, toss in a vanilla bean or cinnamon stick to add another layer of flavor.

When the white chocolate comes out of the oven, scrape it into the hot milk-mixture and whisk until smooth. Season with a pinch of salt.

Ladle into mugs and enjoy.

The Gift of Giving & a Happy New Year!

Christmas is right around the corner. In the most recent years, I've became more customed to not having a Christmas meal. This is one thing I would like to start doing again. So I bring to those of you who will be spending Christmas with a significant other, a friend, or family (in which case you can double, triple, etc. the) recipes for your evening.

Bakeware, Utensils, & Equipment Recommendations

One of the blogs that we post a lot of recipes from has a page that lists useful supplies the blogger uses in her own kitchen for such small recipes.

A month ago I had bought a measuring cup set from Progressive off of Zulily. But the question would be why did I do that when I already have two sets of measuring cups, a regular set of measuring spoons, and a set of tiny measuring spoons such as a pinch, a dash, and a smidgeon? Well, this particular set went from 2 whole cups all the way down to 1/32 of a teaspoon! They aren't fancy, and they're a bit more patriotic than I'd like, but the 19 measurements I get make up for all the red, white, and blue. They come in handy when I want to cut a large serving recipe down to a certain number of servings, and many other reasons. You can find this measuring set at many different stores for $9.99. Here it is at Kitchen&Company! It seems that if you buy these, you'll be getting the colors red, grey, and white. Lucky you!

We would also like to take the time to apologize for such an inactive blog as of late. One of us has just gotten married, while the other is planning a wedding, unpacking a house, going to Florida for a week, and finishing up school. We want to say thank you to those of us who haven't unfollowed due to inactivity. :) Recipes will continue to be posted when the time has been found to do so. Hope everyone is staying warm this season (those of you who have the Winter season), and enjoying the holidays (for those of you who celebrate)!!

Will be away!

There will be a lack in recipes posted for the next few days. I was going to build up a queue but I never found the time to do so. I'm making this post so you guys don't think the blog has gone inactive. I have another admin besides myself, but she's pretty busy as well, but if you see a few new recipes, they're most likely due to her posting. :)

Also, if you've made any one of these recipes, we'd like to see pictures of how it turned out and your comments on how well you liked or disliked it! We'd like to know if it was perfectly portioned or not. What could it use more of; what could it use less of? Etc

If you'd like to submit a recipe that serves two, go right ahead! Just make sure you've got a nice quality image to go with it.

Last but not least, you can make a request for a recipe! We will do our best to find it!

I've got a situation with my friend Micky, which is this: I send her  a shopping list of what I want to cook that evening. She buys all the food. I go to her house, and cook the food while she chatters away to me, lets me watch Friends in the background, and makes sure my wine-glass is always full. It's the only way that I can stop her from eating frazzles and a can of diet coke for her supper. 

Here I roasted some aubergines (painted a bit of olive oil on first) in a very hot oven - 220 on fan - for about 20 minutes until gooey but also a bit blackened, on the grill so that they don't stick. In a baking tray at the same time, I chopped two fennels up into 6 bits and put them in too, with some olive oil and seasoning. For the last 12 mins, I put some lemon on the salmon fillets and put them in the oven too. Just long enough to crisp on top but be flaky in the middle. 

Toasted some pine nuts, then put it all on the plate - fennel, aubie, salmon, some rocket, toasted pinenuts, and then because I'm terribly clever, I mixed some Total 0% yoghurt with a bit of garlic and some lemon juice and dolloped it on top. I was quite pissed by this point, because Micky's very good at her job of keeping my wine glass full all the time, but I'm sure it was delicious.
