Hey there, I'm quite in distress at the moment and i wondered if you guys have any suggestions for websites where I can join a support chat group? Thanks in advance! ~Ellen~
Hey there Ellen!
We do have a list for web counselling sites linked here. However, these are generally one on one chat sites. For a group setting I find forums to be a lot more beneficial. Depending on the issue at hand you could find a forum that suits your needs. Simply googling “____ forums” will usually result in groups that you could join anonymously, post, and get general advice/comments that can turn into a conversation with other users of the group. Some focus on certain ages, others are more general and focus on the problem alone. This can be good for learning from people who have dealt with a disorder or experience for x number of years. Sometimes it can be harder not having opinions/feedback/advice from people closer to your age.
There are also chat sites like Chatzy that will make group chats. Dailystrength is another site that will categorize different issues and you can start a group yourself with a focus topic, or join another group that has a topic similar to your needs. We also hold group chats here on MHA on different topics called “venting groups” that is led by one of our admins at set times. The schedule can be found here. Sometimes they are canceled. But there will be a post made announcing the start to the chat with a link and password so followers can join. I hope that one of these sites are useful for you in getting a support group. I wish you the best of luck! Live long and prosper!
