Last week's release of 38,000+ mink from Lang Farms in Minnesota may be more financially devastating for the fur farm than reported. As of Friday morning, 11,000 mink have been recaptured, 15,000 have died, and 12,000 mink are still missing. The farm estimated losses of $750,000 but a trade association representing mink farmers advises farms, when responding to animal releases, to not only add-up the value of pelts from dead and missing animals, but to also consider the loss of all the animal's genetic history, and the expense of purchasing new "breeding stock." According to Fur Commission USA's calculations, the mink release may cost Lang Farms over $2 million! Fur farmer Dan Lang has said that he does not know how much, if any, of his losses will be covered by insurance. Mink prices have been in a slump for several years. Most fur farms are struggling just to break even. We're hopeful that the release of the mink will mean the end for this fur farm. #DirectAction #ALF #AnimalLiberationFront #AnimalLiberation #DirectActionSavesLives #SupportDirectAction #SupportTheALF #SupportTheAnimalLiberationFront #UntilEveryCageIsEmpty
