We’re back! We’re so so excited to share our latest interview with @jasminemcho - the brilliant baker behind Cookie Activism and Bake Therapy. Jasmine’s thoughtful, sugary portraits remind us that representation matters, in all mediums. In addition to her baked activism, she’s pioneering bake therapy as a tool to improve mental health. We have so much to learn from Jasmine and are honored to share @mwelbel ’s conversation.
What is bake therapy? - a quick guide to this emerging field.
Bake therapy established the act of baking as a tool for improving mental health by reducing anxiety and stress.
“I’m hoping to utilize the field of art therapy, which is already recognized and has so much crossover with my ideas about bake therapy, to support the development of bake therapy becoming its own field.”

“Measuring out ingredients and following a provided structure feels very therapeutic. I kind of lose myself in the process. We all know that mindfulness is crucial to our mental health. When you’re baking it just kind of happens.”
“We all heal in different ways, and I think baking can be one of them.”
“Baking encourages a sense of community. Especially if you are struggling with depression or feelings of loneliness, I think baking can help pull you outside of yourself.”
We’re in awe of Jasmine’s work. There is power in your dough folx! Read the full interview with Jasmine over on closedloopcooking.com.
