My history is full of broken boys, of too much alcohol and breath that tastes like smoke. I have more scars than unmarked skin and a body hidden beneath armor: colorful clothes, bold make-up, condescending smirk and clenched fists. I carry keys between my knuckles and pepper spray in my purse. I know how to throw a punch, how to break a wrist grab, how to shout fire if someone gets too close. I'm only twenty, but I feel so old. So tired. I have done so many things in the name of survival. Surviving is the one thing I do best. I should be grateful for this talent, proud that I've come so far, so quickly. Instead I lie awake, wondering what it would feel like to let go.

We Made It

We survived the apocalypses, I went into the city today and saw Daniel Radcliffe, my almost boyfriend is back in town and it's only less than 48 hours til I see him.
