Surprise - Part 1

Word count - 1555 A/N - So yeah, this is my first chapter in a longer story, I can’t guarantee a regular upload but I’ll try to be as consistent as I can considering that I’m going in school and stuff.

Micah shook his head as he looked down at his phone; he knew that you hated that job. And he got so frustrated over the fact that you had to be so proud and keep it even though he could easily provide for the both of you. He pulled his fingers through his hair as he put his phone back in the pocket of his favourite jeans. They were bleached from a few too many times in the washer and the fabric over the pockets were distressed here and there from him having his keys, his phone and other stuff in the same pockets every time he wore them. He sat down in his gaming chair and looked at the computer screen in front of him, he had planned to record some happy wheels to fill up the quota of videos in case he got sick, but he didn’t feel like playing at all, not when he knew what a rough day you had at work. He turned off the camera, closed the game, and started to aimlessly scroll down his Facebook page. Then he saw something that caught his attention. And a plan started to take shape in his mind as smile slowly formed on his lips. He quickly pulled up his phone again and called a number. The other person picked up almost instantly. “What’s up Micah?” A calm and low voice answered the phone. “Hey, you guys busy tonight?” He asked as he spun around on the chair with a mischievous grin on his face.

You let out a deep sigh as you looked at the clock over the door. It seemed like the seconds were minutes at this point. 15 minutes, then you could finish up the paperwork for the day and go home. Your stomach turned and you felt a slight nausea, but you just shook it off as you shot a glance towards the toilet. You’ve been in there as soon as you were granted a break, you can’t go in there again or your boss would notice. The stacks of paperwork never disappeared; you just worked your way through them to make way for another stack the next day. If you had to be honest it felt a little counterproductive, but at least you had a job. And if you were going to be blunt the salary was the only reason why you stayed. It’s ridiculous how much money your boss paid you just to handle some paperwork that he were too lazy to handle on his own. You looked at the paper in front of you. “This agreement of a merge is entered into by and between Seth Grayson, Carrie & Elena Westbrook and the third party Tristan Walker and is legally binding as of Thursday the fifth of January 2017” It seemed to be some kind of agreement about letting a third party into the firm? You don’t really know, and it’s not your job to know. You just look up the names in the papers and file them in the correct folder by numeral or alphabetical order. You looked at the clock again; 14 minutes and 24 seconds left. The nausea came back, in full force this time. “This can’t wait” You mumbled as you packed your things. You had to do this right away; there was no waiting anymore. You peeked into the office that belonged to your boss, he was half asleep over the computer and you could see by the reflection in his glasses that he was watching a movie. “Hey Seth, I’ve finished everything and I’m gonna go now, I have to stop by the pharmacy before I get home and I’d rather get there before they close for the night” He quickly looked up and in an effort to look, and sound awake, he coughed and smiled. “Uh-huh! Yeah go home if you’re done, no need to stay if you’ve sorted all the files” He wiped his blonde hair away from his eyes and smiled again. You smiled back “Yeah, I’ll see you tomorrow”

You walked up and down the isle labelled “intimate” in the pharmacy, afraid to even look at the box on the shelf you walked by it again, like it was going to lit up in flashing colours for everyone to see if you picked it up.

“Oh my god, it’s just a box” you said to yourself as you tried to muster up the courage to just… Pick. It. Up. “You need any help, love?” The voice of an old lady with the looks of a grandmother that probably should be on a box of cookies reached you as she smiled at you. You jumped a bit, startled by her voice “Uhm, no… I just… I was going to…” you glanced down at the box. “Oh, I see…” A look of realization struck over her face “You know what sweetie, you take that now. There’s a bathroom in the back. If it shows anything, you don’t have to pay for it. Is that okay love?” Your heart ached over the kindness the old lady showed you, she didn’t even know you and yet she really tried to make you calm down about it all. You reached over to the box and took it in your hands “Yeah, thank you so much…” And with that you rushed over to the bathroom. You read the instructions carefully at least three times, you couldn’t mess this up or you’d be home way too late. You looked at your phone; it said to wait 2 minutes, and then check it. 2 minutes, then you’d know if everything was about to change or not.

“Ok get ready guys,” Micah said with anticipation in his voice "She’ll be inside in less than 2 minutes!” His brilliant idea included calling all of your closest friends and then making them come over on the biggest taco dinner the world has even seen. That includes a Star Wars marathon as well, of course. Everything was prepped and ready, The Empire Strikes Back were paused on the flat screen, your favourite scented candles were lit on the decorative table next to the window, lights were dimmed down and the food was already placed on the living room table. “Sch! She’s coming!” Marzia whispered as they all crawled back behind the couch even more.

You sighed and dropped your keys as you tried to unlock the door. So many thoughts wrestled in your head and you couldn’t help but think about what would happen next. You had to talk to Micah, you knew that… but did you really have to do that night? Did you have to do it this week? You had no idea of how urgent this was. You finally got the keys in the lock, as you opened the door you reached in to turn on the lights, you turned the switch but nothing happened. “Ah just fucking great…” You muttered as you walked in and kicked off your shoes. “Baby? I think the lights in the hall has burned out!” No answer, you walked over to the beginning of the living room and leaned on the wall as you looked into the kitchen right across the hall. “Micah? Seriously I know that you're home, I saw your car, I’m not in the mood for a prank and I really have to-” “SURPRISE!” They all yelled and the lights were turned on again. You shrieked as you turned around and dropped your bag. “What the fuck? What is all this?!” You yelled while you tried to catch your breath from the scare. Marks laugh filled the entire house and he smiled at you “I know that you’ve been having a tough time at work” Micah said as he wrapped his arms around your waist “So I figured that you needed to relax a bit with the people that loves you the most” Your heart rate slowly returned to normal as you looked around the room, they were all here, Mark and Amy, Sean and Signe, Felix and Marzia, and Tyler and Ethan. And your eyes started to tear up; you loved them all so much. “Hey babe, don’t me sad, we all love you, no need to cry” Micah sad and placed a kiss on your forehead. You wiped your eyes “Yeah I know… but I need to talk to you, like, alone” You looked into his eyes. A wrinkle turned between his eyebrows and he got a confused expression on his face “Sure…” he mumbled as he dragged you over to the kitchen. When you got in there he turned to you with a worried look “What’s up? Is everything alright?” “Yeah, no, I don’t know. That depends…” you said and looked away, trying to figure out how he would react to the news. “For the love of god, please just tell me, you can’t just tell me A and then forget all about B” he sad and pulled you into a tight embrace. “I know” you sad as you buried your face in his chest. You took a deep breath and whispered your secret into his t-shirt; “I’m pregnant” He froze, took you on arms length with his hand on your shoulders as a look of chock spread across his face “really?"

You looked him straight in the eyes "Really”
