I’m sitting here and writing once again, so I guess this means I made it out of the catacombs safe and sound? Yes, and no would be the correct answer to that. I’m fine, and I found exactly what I was looking for. That warlock must have been mad in the last parts of his life because he had the runes tattooed and carved into various parts of his skin. Lucky for me he wasn’t too decomposed and the preservation spell placed on him remained. The bad news is that his madness was only one of his troubles. It seems his research caught the attention of the succubus queen. I’ve heard Malkirath speak of her since he was in her service, but I never pried since it’s painful memories for him. A demoness spoke a warning to me as I was down there. I can’t say for certain if that was the queen herself, but I would prefer not to find out. I’m glad to have compiled all of these notes, but I haven’t had a chance to attempt a summoning yet. Things have been way too busy, and it’s just way too risky considering current events.
I walked out of the dormitories the other morning to see this woman in red and purple robes outside near the fountain. She was holding up a crude sign with gibberish about the end of Azeroth scribbled on it. She was handing out pamphlets, so I took one to see what it said. Absolutely ridiculous nonsense about the Legion, the end of Azeroth, and how we are all doomed. They are littered throughout the city, handing out their propaganda to the poor townsfolk. We have all worked so hard to keep these rumours away from the commoners because panic is the last thing we need on our hand. Within days of their arrival in the city, people were jumping from the buildings and ending their lives. It’s such a tragic thing to have happen, and I can only hope they will be asked to leave the city for good.
Doomsayers they are and they definitely live up to their name. As much as I don’t want to interact with them, my Master has tasked me with trying to collect as many of these pamphlets as I can. He believes there is something in the ink that’s causing the mass hysteria. Despite sorcerers being able to inscribe curses onto parchment, I still think that’s a dumb notion. I told him it’s just human nature to panic over the unknown. Of course he doesn’t believe me. I know what will happen, he will make me look over these. I’ll be stuck with a stack of these pamphlets. I suppose after I am done I could keep them for my odd collection. Someone may come looking for these someday.
I also found time to send a letter to Miranda. I miss her dearly and wanted to see if Surwich had been affected by anything strange. I learned that her house has burned, but she managed to save most of her valuables. She told me she broke a window to get into my home. I was going to ask her to go there regardless, because I simply won’t have her staying elsewhere. For now she’s safe and has stored her things there. I’m thankful for that, but I have so many questions to ask her. I’m going to see if I can find the time to visit and bring some items to her, and if I can’t I’ll have Malkirath do so for me. I don’t have much free time lately and I’m afraid it will get less and less as the days go by.
I’ve been busy enjoying life a bit. Being settled down in Surwich is such a drastic change from traveling the world. I decided to take Welby out for a late night ride through the Tainted Forest.
