The moon was high, pale and sharp like a blade of silver glass, slicing through the clouds that veiled the sleeping city below. Perched atop a rooftop edge like a shadow stitched to the night itself, Ikuto Tsukiyomi let the quiet hum of the world wash over him—distant sirens, the rustle of leaves, the faint murmur of dreams.

His violin case hung loosely at his side, untouched tonight. Not even music could unravel the knots threading through his thoughts. Somewhere, the Guardians were probably still chasing illusions… still trying to protect what they thought was fragile. C u t e.

A gust of wind tousled his blue hair, but he didn’t move. He was used to being the wind’s companion——a silent watcher, always passing through, never staying.

one. when jj asks her to come to the football game , she's hesitant to say the least . she's never really been invited out with the team before , not without derek , but jj assures & assures her again that spencer wants her there too ( penny has eyes , knows how he looks at jj & if she's being honest , they would be kind of cute together but she's so desperate to fit in with them , to integrate into this job that she's agreed to instead of prison , that she conceeds ) . she figures out that poor spencer had thought it was a date within a millisecond of being there , the deflated look on his face when jj excitedly tells him that penelope had decided to join them . she almost leaves until the game starts & she's smushed between them , reid eagerly spouting off statistics to them about both teams , jj shaking her head with an indulgent smile . they drink overpriced beer & share surprisingly delicious nachos & cheer when jj prompts them to for her team . by the time the game ends , she's so embarrassingly aware that she'd do anything for these two & realizes that she hasn't had friends like this since before her parents died . hasn't felt like she belonged since then either . jj gives her that . two. when she's shot . . . well , it's blurry . she remembers heroes by david bowie playing in her head , she's not even sure it's really playing anywhere else but it won't leave her head . she remembers her mom & her stepdad & her brothers , memories of them flashing through her head , making her wonder if she's about to see them again . she remembers that when she opens her eyes the only person besides derek who could make her feel at ease is there , holding her hand & wiping the deluge of tears that start & that she can't seem to stop . she isn't even in pain , she's just so damn grateful that it's jj . she loves derek & knows hotch & emily are waiting just on the other side of the hall but seeing jj , it being jj is everything she had needed & more . three. she doesn't talk to her brothers . well , they don't talk to her . so , she's kind of given up on the whole aunt thing , until jj tells the team she's pregnant . & she goes a little overboard with the preemptive gifts , sure , but as the second bau baby he is entitled to as many aunt penny gifts as he wants ( poor jack was dreadfully neglected because she'd been so new and hotch had been so scary at first but she's done a lot to rectify that in the years since ) . & they're so caught up in making sure jordan is settling in that when jj does go into labor , penny doesn't see it coming . it's hours of waiting room while she makes sure the boys are on their way back & that will gets situated & when they ask her to come into the room once jj's mom has had enough time to fawn over her first grandchild , she's too distracted by how beautiful henry & jj are to notice her & will looking at her expectantly . by the time she does , they've asked her to be his godmother & she bursts into tears as will takes henry back so she can gingerly pull jj into the carefulest hug & tell her that it would be the greatest honor of her life . & it is . four. she knows that it's for the best . for jj to leave . she knows that she wants to be home with henry more , that she deserves , more than anyone , to be recognized for how brilliant & badass she is . it breaks her heart just the same . it makes every time she gets to see her in the coming months all the more special & she could hate her when she & emily come back but she's so damn happy just to see them , by the time she has the capacity to sit down & be angry . she just doesn't have it in her . five. every single day . whether they get coffee , whether they don't talk , or even only see each other in the elevator exhausted & both ready to be home . she is more than a best friend & more than a sister & just - more . every day that jj exists & penny has the privilege of being reminded of that fact - she's happy .

" yeah — yeah, i got it. " travis never been to a high school dance before, but this, at least, is familiar. every christmas, every easter, every funeral, his mother insisted on a full suit and tie for church. usually dad would help @svnbleach get ready... but that, too, falls to travis now.

he works the wrinkled fabric through his fingers. the lantern it came from sits discarded on the forest floor. " you been to one of these things before? " javi hasn't, right? surely mom would have made a big fuss, took a million photos... there's no way travis would have missed it — unless he had tuned it out. crap, he may have. he was such a selfish dick just like his dad. travis should have been a better brother, a better son, before the crash. he shouldn't have to ask these questions.

but that's useless thinking. all he can do is be a better brother right now. " i bet one of the girls will dance with you. " javi's got that cute little kid thing going, and really, what's hist competition? miserable, angry ' flex ' and the crippled coach. everyone will want to dance with javi.

the surprise doesn't come from the words themselves, it comes from the fact that the blonde noticed. of course she'd notice, she's a profiler after all.

it took more effort than it should have to not point out how long it was when the distance started.

she'd put physical distance between them after the wedding, giving herself a realistic chance at being with someone that wasn't unavailable.

every option she came across made her want to bury herself further into the work she left the bau for. it was easier than dealing with what she was running from now, that she'd missed her chance.

it left an ache inside her to this day, with blue eyes giving her the illusion of hope with every look. she learned years ago that jennifer jareau was the one person she read wrong time and time again. that's what happened when she saw what she wanted to see, not what was actually there.

her gaze averted and tone defeated as she reached for another file on her desk, she'd given up resolving the distance years ago. to be close to jj again was to remember what she'd never have.

her lips purse at the question. despite everything that amy did to other people, she would always look past it. amy needed her, regardless if she'd ever admit it.

her only goal has been to protect amy since the accident, there were some things that were better for both of them to forget.

hearing about jake, it stung because nothing good would come from gina telling her the past. amy wasn't going to change her mind, and if she did, things were different and she had someone. someone good enough for her to stay with, some that was worth it.

amy's marriage was done before anything started between them, but her marriage was still in tact. far from perfect, but there was still a window to repair it.

until amy got her hopes up, until they both left their marriages and amy changed her mind.

some days are easier than others. wake up, put the laundry in, make breakfast, check on nick, remind nick to change the laundry she knows he isn't going to change, tell alicia they need to hurry, fret over the inevitably wet laundry she is going to come home to, and then get alicia and herself to the school— and that's a good day.. if everything goes according to plan she can have around six whole minutes to sit at her desk and drink the coffee she makes every morning in the staff room because the one at home gave out on itself several weeks and she hasn't replaced it yet. the end of the day though? the end of the day is a saving grace. her desk might be full of papers laced with secrets, but it's quiet. like everything in the world is right & there isn't a single thing requiring her attention. maybe, just maybe maddie takes a little extra time to get home some days. and maybe, just maybe she's found a little more solace than just her empty office. “ what're you still doin' here? ” the question airs as she props herself against the door frame of @svnbleach's classroom. “ if you're about to tell me you're takin' up residence here.. ” it's a poor excuse of a joke but her lips curl into a smile that she's sure a few people would be surprised to see bared by madison clark.
