Music Releases
hey everyone, i just wanted to make a brief post about some upcoming physical releases I'm participating in.
Mallory's going to be releasing To The Hollow Night on vinyl through All We've Got Records and on CD through Savage Wasteland. Super stoked to be working with these two labels on this project, and starting to get really excited for our 2015 tour!
Music Was My First Gay Loone is changing our name to Swan Hunter. We're at a point where our two independent sounds are merging into a cohesive song-writing process. Excited to continue performing throughout this year. We're going to record at the Brick House Community Center in November, and will be releasing our self-titled ep on cassette through a label in NY. More on that to come soon!
Sacred Alter's cassette release of Loone's Moon Under Water, Hole in the Ice (Cabin Recordings) is imminent! This tape is gonna be de-luxe! Lotsa room for art, new drawings I'm hella happy about. Working with Chris at this label has been a dream. Stoked! The new recordings of Moon Under Water, Hole in the Ice are done. Dan at Enemies List and I are starting to talk about the details of the release. More to come on that as it emerges. Sometime this winter there will be a split released of Tinder Fungus and A Cackle or a Coughing Fit on cassette, ffo of my weirder, darker stuff.
Lastly, there may be a release soon of The Meadow, most likely on cassette. OK! That's it right now! Also, I'm tabling with Ponyboy Violet at the Boston Zine fair on the 11th and 12th. Hope to see some of y'all there. I'll mostly have affordable digital prints, in addition to a couple fawncier things (woodcuts and the like). That is all for now! x
Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson, Wallsend Shipyard, c1955 - Bergensfjord
From a Transport Age article on Tyneside a fine colour shot of the passenger steamship Bergensfjord, built for the Den Norske Amerikalinje A/S by Swan, Hunter and Wigham Richardson and launched, by H R H Princess Astrid of Norway in July 1955.
The ship was 577-feet long and was notable, the caption informs, for its all-welded aluminium-alloy superstructure.
Many fine and famous ships came out of the Swan Hunter Wallsend yard.
Anyhow, it is a cracking view of a traditional shipyard on one of the world's busiest shipbuilding rivers, the River Tyne.
The company, usually known just as Swan Hunter, was responsible for the construction of some of the world's most famous ships including the Mauritania and Carpathia. Building finally ceased here in 2006.
