Maybe the siblings also escaped like sanji did or since they had each other to lean on they managed to make a small heaven in the hell that is germa

But imagine them meeting someone or multiple someones of what COULD have been but they didnt get, theyre all incredibly warry of each other at first but eventually the siblings just latch themselfs onto sanji after realising he had NO ONE and after they find out what emotionless them did to him??? What their father did to him??? Theyre so protective and trying their beat to spoil him and big brother him before the devil fruits power runs out

And sanji is just feeing overwhelmed and kind of sticking close to other Reiju because she is the closest he has as a real sibling in his world

I'm sorry I've been sitting on so many asks for months, this being one of them. I'm trying to get everything cleared by the end of the year, I promise. Let's get cracking.

Sanji and the crew in a fight where Sanji is hit with a devil fruit that switches him and Swapped!Sanji where he is on the deck of the Sunny, his crew is there, there's yelling and suddenly Reiju and Ichiji are crowding him and he's suddenly wretching himself away from them and trying to get away from everyone crowding them on the deck and he hears Niji and Yonji and Luffy yelling for him. Telling him to calm down, but he was just in a fight, his siblings are here and after the wedding and everything Luffy would have never let them come. His brain is running on pure fight or flight and he's scrambling into the air to get some distance and breathe. He sees Robin talking to four blond heads that appear to be his siblings and Zoro is looking at him with curiosity as he looks over the crew and he's trying to breathe. Robin and Usopp calls him down so they can ask questions and Luffy is laughing that Sanji is flying and looks like his siblings and Zoro actually looks concerned for him. His Zoro never does so he lands, the fire engulfing his legs dying as Niji rushes up again and Sanji flinches and steps back again. Robin steps in front of Sanji and holds his face gently, studying him. She's looking at him and he knows that's not his Robin, this isn't his crew. He needs to get back.

"Get back where, Sanji?" Robin murmurs with worry. Sanji hadn't realized that he said that aloud.

"My crew, this isn't my crew, I was hit with a fruit during a fight." Sanji rambles while looking at them.

"Perhaps, we should get you somewhere quiet, let's go to the infirmary." Chopper says as he grabs Sanji's hand and he and Robin take him away and check him over. Sanji doesn't know how to deal with everything, everyone on the ship. His siblings-Nami and Luffy would never let them aboard the Sunny after what happened. He feels like he's constantly on the verge of a panic attack. Robin tries to get answers about why Sanji is scared and the answer being his brothers weighs heavily on the deer and archeologist. Chopper gets Sanji to lay down and try to rest as Robin explains to the crew and siblings that this isn't their Sanji, this Sanji is from a place where his brothers have no emotions but have done something to make this Sanji utterly terrified.

The siblings talk about what Judge would try to have them do when they were kids before giving up, the fights, the jumps, the endless trials, and how Sanji was taken to the extreme of being too unthinking and listening to orders and having no thoughts. That if it hadn't been taken that far Sanji would be king and be able to make his own decisions and it sounds like that's how they were. Cruel, uncaring. Reiju mentions how their mother would always tell them that they would find people who were kind and loved them and Sanji may not have. Luffy tells them they could try to be nice to this Sanji and then he wonders how their Sanji is doing given what he considers is his main order. No one is feeling great so they all try to remain calm. The next morning Sanji heads to the gally to start cooking, to make everyone food and get some of the stress out. Except it's set up completely different from his kitchen when Ichiji comes in and raises his hands up in a 'I will not hurt you' way at the way Sanji flinches and looks at him. Ichiji can feel his heart breaking because what the fuck did that other him do? He offers to help or leave, and Sanji just mutters he can stay. Ichiji helps and kind of watches Sanji start cooking in awe. Ichiji asks questions about what his crew is like and Sanji answers and after a while Ichiji says he must be really strong to keep up with them, he says it so wistfully like it's a dream and Sanji just shrugs. Sanji says he's just a cook, compared to the others on his crew he's actually fairly weak. Easily replaceable. Ichiji wants to argue but the way Sanji is standing makes him stop. When it's time for breakfast everyone is amazed at the food that is put out. Zoro asks his siblings why they don't put spreads like this out and Sanji says he was trained as a cook so he knows a bit more about feeding people en masse. Reiju asks who and Sanji answers a retired pirate and leaves it at that. But as he moves to start cleaning the kitchen Nji, out of habit tells Sanji to eat and now they're looking at each other. Sanji is confused and Niji is stumbling over his words before Sanji waves him off and goes to the gally.

Yonji carries in dishes after the meal and starts washing them like he usually does. He doesn't even realize Sanji is in there still until Sanji asks what he's doing making Yonji jump to the high heavens, or at least that's what it feels like. Yonji chastises him for scaring him and then apologizes because it's weird for both of them. Sanji nods and Yonji keeps doing the dishes. Sanji takes stock of some things to pull out for lunch. Yonji watches him start prepping and he just, he wants to-

He just wants to hug Sanji and feel his brother when he's not Judge's tool and he stumbles out and asks for a hug because his Sanji is what he assumes they're like in his world, kind of. Sanji looks at him like it's a weird request and Yonji asks how often he gets hugged and Sanji shrugs and says whenever Luffy grabs him usually. He just wasn't raised with a lot of physical affection, Zeff would kick him whenever he fucked up and then his brother's would hit him to get Judge's approval and Judge tried to kill him. Yonji looks so sad, that he wouldn't help his brother who was human. But if he was like how his father had planned for his Sanji to be he guesses. He pulls Sanji to him and holds him, loose enough for him to escape if he wants but he's soft unlike his Sanji, and Sanji stiffens before melting and hugging back. When they separate and Sanji starts cooking does Yonji go tell the crew. Reiju goes and spends time with Sanji and he's more comfortable with her. Far more than her brothers and it's worrying. How he's more willing to let her touch him, willing to tell her more about what happened to him before he left Germa and when he was dragged back. He's smoking and Reiju scrunches her nose at him and asks why, he says it cuts hunger pains, he never grew out of them. He doesn't get it, doesn't question it, just smokes because it also calms down his anxiety. Then he's apologizing for making her cry and he's so worried he fucked up and Reiju is just holding him because she should have done more in that world. Despite Sanji's arguments, she still believes it.

Niji helps Sanji take inventory and go shopping and they chat, it's weird for them both. Sanji asks what he's like in this world and Niji explains. How his Sanji only follows the prime directive of protecting them, he's emotionless-mostly, he's learning-, he doesn't talk and they have to tell him to eat or sleep or drink. Sanji says they all talk but they're emotionless, they only serve their self-interests or Judge's. Niji clenches his fists and says he wants to go kill that Judge but Sanji shrugs. They have their deal, and Niji says their going to be the best siblings Sanji's ever had while he's here. There is dread pooling in Sanji's gut from that. Because yeah, they do try to spoil him. Make him sit and relax and Zoro is laughing because unlike their Sanji, this Sanji is utterly confused at people being nice. Like it's new and Yonji tells him to shut the fuck up as they start fighting. He sticks to Reiju, understandably so when they all learn, but still. Robin still does story time, the days pass, they fall into a rhythm. He's gifted things, small things he keeps in his pockets at all times. Drawings and notes on scrap pieces of paper, recipe cards, things that show his siblings' love for him. Even if they're not his and he's not theirs'. Reiju kisses his cheek and she looks so much like their mother and his brothers play fight with him. Things he was never granted as a child.

Then at some point he's sent back to his crew who are all crowding around him and Chopper is crying that he's back and Luffy is smiling so brightly. After being checked over and explaining he was just with a different version of this crew does he calm them. Zoro sits in the gally with him and talks about the other Sanji that was there. How he wouldn't listen to them, wouldn't eat or sleep, just kept looking around. It's just them and Sanji tells him how his job was to protect his siblings, who were just like him on the other crew, about how they got out of Germa together instead of just him as a child. Zoro frowns, and Sanji clarifies that the version of him that was here was far more than Judge had wanted, to the point he was back to being a failure again, full circle to Judge's hubris. Zoro pauses and asks Sanji if he really thinks he's a failure and Sanji shrugs. Zoro manages to get the stuff his siblings gave him and tells Sanji Luffy wouldn't want a failure in his crew, wouldn't want a failure trusted with his back. Yeah, shit didn't work out when he was a kid but to trust the people that actually matter to him before he leaves. Sanji lights a cigarette and he feels calm and loved as he looks over everything from his siblings.

MAN!!!! I love how you expanded on it . Sanji not knowing how to take care of his own body by himself makes it even worse I think… it exacerbates a lot of things for the other siblings. I feel they’d kind of just meld into a generally codependent blob, because they get used to doing absolutely everything together to make sure Sanji is doing all the same things with them. Easier than keeping track of who’s told him to do what, is how they rationalize it, but really they just left Germa and none of them want to be the sibling that imposes a strict daily schedule he can’t depart from unless in case of emergency. It just feels Bad. They’re not doing it. They’ll do things like sleep together in a pile, because it’s “easier”, and try to conveniently ignore all night that laying with their brother is uncomfortable because his skin is hard and he has no body heat and he doesn’t care for his own comfort at all so he lays strangely unless they maneuver him.

I feel like that hits Niji the worst too, because he just cares a whole fucking lot (I like taking the fact he was the only person who showed concern and spoke up for Reiju in WCI and running with it in contexts where he has a full range of emotions). All of them are vaguely aware that what they’re doing isn’t healthy but they also weren’t raised with the emotional intelligence to do anything about it either, Niji is just Extra Aware and it eats him up inside. Sanji being a husk also eats him up inside particularly badly, but that’s something he can’t even begin to do anything about so he tries not worrying about it. I feel like him and Ichiji argue the most between the five , one thinking much more emotionally and the other thinking more coldly/logically.

And all of them being taken in by the strawhats is so lovely… they get to experience family outside of abuse and strain and constant tension. When Judge eventually hunts them down and the strawhats beat him and Germa handily, they’re just all puddles of relief that can finally fully work towards bettering their relationships because now they know for sure they’re never going back to how things used to be. Bonus points for Sanji continuing to protect his siblings over any new orders Judge tries to give him to get them back .

100% They are a codependent blob. They most likely have been since before they left Germa, always trying to take care of Sanji while there, but after the escape it's only ever gotten so much worse. They can't set a set schedule just because life on the seas doesn't exactly allow for that. So they just do whatever they can when they can, they always make sure at least one person is with Sanji though. Even the thought of just a set schedule like in Germa makes them feel remarkably ill. The sleep pile is so true too, they have to maneuver Sanji to make sure everyone is comfortable while they sleep. Sanji is just so cold and hard that his siblings are at a loss of how to make him soft, make him warm.

Niji is the best choice for most emotion outside of Reiju. Of course they all know it's not healthy, they all get anxious about separation and if one of them(Sanji) is gone too long they go looking to see what happened. Niji has to be losing his mind half the time about how fucked up they are. He knows why, he understands it, but fuck he doesn't know how to fix it. It's just constantly nagging him, it also destroys him how Sanji was the only to have this happen to him. How they were all deemed failures in their own way and Sanji can just fucking disappear when he wants to. He just never wants to. He never wants anything, he only listens to them. He and Ichiji fight a lot about how to teach him emotions but it's not inherent, not like it was for them and emotional intelligence is one thing but having someone learn to have emotions is another.

When they join the Strawhat Pirates officially is weird and insane to them. Robin acts motherly to them while Brook plays a more grandfatherly role and Franky and Jinbei offer different perspectives of being paternal figures, ones who care and support them. Luffy is everyone's brother and probably the most determined outside of them to help teach Sanji emotions and his straightforward way of thinking and dealing with emotions might be useful to them. The crew adores them and they adore them back. They're getting better, slowly but surely they learn to trust others with Sanji and calm Chopper down when Sanji rearranges his out of place body, even teach him how to draw Sanji's blood and such when he needs it. When Judge comes back for them?

They certainly didn't think their found family would fight for them, nor did they think Sanji would defy direct orders from Judge. He just stares and stands in front of them as Judge yells at him to stand down, to bring his siblings and come back. Maybe it's the first flashes of emotions Sanji has. The fight is long and arduous thanks to the clone army Judge has, the enhancements made to them. Maybe Germa is destroyed but they have definitely lost and everyone is relieved. Everyone is so relieved Sanji didn't listen to Judge but also so thankful because that went against his programming which makes his siblings cheer and hold him. It's wild to them that Sanji is learning things that go against his programming because it's taken so long, but they're so thankful as well. It's what their mother would have wanted after all.

Robin being group mom for the swapped au siblings is so good… not only is she a motherly figure for the boys who’ve never really had one and for Reiju who only vaguely remembers their mother, but her odd morbidity kind of tempers it for them because they aren’t used to all of the warmth and community the strawhats have built among each other. I imagine whenever they argue they additionally have to kind of fight for who gets to be with Robin first afterwards and that’s a right mess as well, bc they’re all just not that used to spending time with the louder strawhats and all the chaos that ends up with them.

I think they’re probably the worst with Franky— not only is he massive and loud and contrary to most things they’ve been taught, he’s also so very emotional. There’s a 50/50 chance they’ll say anything and he’ll start bawling because he’s sad they’ve missed out on x or y and they don’t really know how to handle it in the least!! It’s overwhelming!

Good to hear from you Wine! Yeah the kids definitely don't know what a loving home is supposed to be like and then add on the run away royalty to it and it's just this weird mashed together pattern of showing love and care without really knowing how and then add in a brother who doesn't feel much of anything yet but is starting to learn and it's a mess. Since joining the Strawhats they definitely argue less but they do still happen. I think Niji would start having doubts about Sanji gaining emotions because uh.... he's been a mercenary since like age ten and Robin says part of being human is living with the pain of past actions, but it's not like Sanji had a choice, he was a victim.

Franky is so loud and emotional it probably scares them at first because why is he so free with his emotions. Ichiji is the most wigged out because he was the crown prince and had the pressure of the entire kingdom and his siblings and damn did he try to crush those pesky things but it didn't work. So Ichiji is having lots of issues that he's trying just figure out how to avoid the shipwright at all costs and it's not working and he's suffering and it's a whole thing and he's not having fun. He'll stare wide eyed at Franky who is sobbing because all Ichiji said was that their mom died drinking poison which is why the brothers aren't all like Sanji. Ichiji is so used to the horrible things he's desensitized and so Franky telling him that's horrible as he sobs loudly. Also he's really big kind of like Judge and it's just that trick of ptsd that big man=judge when that's not true but still.

Also I think Reiju, who was most familiar with their mother, looks at Franky and says Sora would have loved him. The tears and wailing are expected but now she's in the air and against a giant metal man who is squeezing her very tightly and yelling about how much that means to him. One time Franky, Niji, and Yonji are talking, as well as some of the other guys from the strawhats and Yonji asks Niji when Judge gave up on them and Niji's confused 'as weapons or making Sanji king? because both of those happened by the time we were eight.' and Franky's crying again and there's questions from all around. Yonji says they do need to work on being more open and Niji tackles him. Robin separates them with a very stern 'Boys.' which makes them all settle down significantly.

Oh yeah, for swapped!Sanji au, which straw hats do you think the siblings would get along with when they end up going with them?

Straight up my first thought was Robin. The mom of the crew who looks at what essentially children stuck with nowhere to go, fighting for their lives and teaching one of them to try to feel, to make his skin have give and be warm and do things without direction. He doesn't talk really, only ever answering his siblings in short one or two words at a time. She watches Reiju maneuver him when he can't follow instructions on how to lay down with them or eat something that Niji wants him to try and have no reaction. It reminds Robin of shortly after the Buster Call on Ohara and she sees herself in both of them. Forcing oneself to take care of themself in a way. Only it's four on one and the one is almost constantly seeming in the shell-shocked state she was in for a while as a child. Sanji doesn't interact with people either, even his own siblings. He keeps an eye on them, closer than Robin does which is surprising to her.

She asks Yonji about it first, thinking he'd be more open to talking because he's constantly asking her questions about history and asking to borrow books and such. He just smiles at her and says he should ask Reiju or Niji, him and Ichiji are more the survival focused ones of their family. When Robin asks jokingly about Sanji being the brawn Yonji just kind of gives her this sad smile and nods as he leaves the room. It looked like her words stung him when they are merely true. Truth does hurt though, and Robin thinks

Robin finds Sanji in the library or aquarium alone rather often, his black hair a stark contrast to the blue and the fish swimming or the myriads of books on the shelves. She'll join him in content silence reading her own book. Then at one point she brings books of tales and fables and asks Sanji if he's ever had anyone read to him, he watches her, blank and empty. She reads a select few and when he doesn't leave she reads more. Then over time this becomes a nightly thing. Then Ichiji finds out when he can't find Sanji one night when it's his turn and sits in on the story time, mentions they haven't done this since their mother died and Sanji was never allowed to take part. Robin can feel her heart break slightly at the eldest blond boy's words. Something threaded deep into the longing in the way they're said to her.

Then when the Strawhats and the siblings fight Judge it all makes sense. His primary order has always been to protect and him refusing Judge is following the primary directive. Kids don't act like they do but runaway royalty certainly does. Sanji is staring his father down with what seems like righteous fury as he takes a good beating from the King of Germa and his clone army. Sanji's body is disjointed and marred after the fight, Robin can't help but check him over herself after the siblings are done and then she checks on them. Helps clean their blood off them and bandages them. She reads to them all after that. Flashes of things so brief in Sanji's eyes it's hard to catch, almost impossible. It's getting their though, and if Robin has to keep reading myths and fables to help, so be it.
