Sorren never would have said such a thing sober, and he suspected Julien wouldn’t have responded positively to it if he were sober, either. They’d each had just enough that they were starting to speak their minds, inhibitions slipping.

“Nah, cute,” he reiterated, chuckling softly. “Now, if we’re talking about your jawline...” He let the sentence hang as he picked up his glass and took another sip, hazel eyes lingering suggestively on Julien’s face.

Name: Luna Deacon

Gender: Female

General Appearance: Luna is tall and lanky, dwarfing her mother by comparison. Long, somewhat curly brown hair left wild and sometimes a bit tangled, dark brown eyes, often dressed more for comfort than for looks.

Personality: On the outside she can be very aloof and distant, but she’s deceptively perceptive and caring towards those worthy of her time and attention.

Special Talents: She inherited her mother’s curse, but being a second generation werewolf means being able to control the beast a little easier. Those animal instincts aren’t so strong.

Who they like better: Luna likes both of her parents pretty evenly, for different reasons. Her mom for her guidance and understanding, especially when Luna was younger and not fully in control of her wolf side, and her father for his wit and insight.

Who they take after more: She’s a fairly even mix of the two.

Personal Head Canon: Luna is the older twin by two minutes and eighteen seconds.

Gender: Male

General Appearance: Tall, lanky, brown hair that curls when it grows long enough, dark brown eyes. 

Personality: He’s a little standoffish with most people, preferring to let his sister do most of the talking when necessary. Sarcastic, brooding, but loyal to those that earn it.

Special Talents: Lyall also inherited the werewolf curse, but has a better control over it than his mother and sister. When he wants to, that is.

Who they like better: He tends to gravitate more towards his mother, though that may have more to do with their shared curse than actually having compatible personalities.

Who they take after more: He is very much his father’s son, preferring to keep to himself and keep others at bay. Very few people are considered friends.

Personal Head Canon: Lyall went through a phase in his early childhood where he refused to “be human” and would act more like a pup than a child. He was homeschooled until he was ten because of this.

”You’re not being very helpful right now...” Mina hissed through her teeth, the pain she was feeling very apparent in her tone. Her white teeth bared down on her painted bottom lip, at this point it was blurred what was red lipstick and what was blood.

She wasn’t even sure that she liked Julien yet, which should have given her some pause but circumstances pushed her beyond that. It was the Pisces in her; for people she liked Mina would give the world. For those she disliked, however, if looks could kill...well.

 When she met Julien, something did intrigue her and she didn’t see the harm in trying to help him, most of the time Mina was intrigued by people and creatures and wouldn’t turn them away. It was the historian in her, after all. 

“Unf, fuck...” she exhaled, it had been a while since she suffered a wound she couldn’t immediately heal. Her right hand covered her left bicep like a vice, determined not to let any blood escape despite the wounds persistence. “If you speak any slower, I’m going to bleed out on your kitchen table. So why don’t you help me, instead of being a smart ass, hm?”

Sorren’s heart constricted as he tore his eyes away from Julien’s face before he could figure out if the other man was joking or serious. Fuck, had he caught him staring? The two had had a few… close calls, maybe, was a good phrase for the fleeting moments of intimacy under the influence of adrenaline or alcohol or whatever else had pushed them into it. If anyone asked if Sorren was attracted to Julien, he wouldn’t deny it. But was it simply physical? He wouldn’t let himself think about that too deeply. He usually didn’t let himself get too close to people, and it usually wasn’t a problem, since he would meet people at bars and then never see them again. With Julien, however, they had the whole business thing going on. It was a terrible idea to get involved any more than that, honestly. It would just make things complicated.

So why did Sorren keep finding himself thinking about that deep voice or getting lost in those blue eyes?

“Don’t be silly,” he said softly, avoiding the other man’s gaze, though whether his words were more to Julien or to himself he couldn’t say. Hands wrapped around one of the mugs of tea he’d made for them, he stared down into it and wondered, not for the first time, what the psychic would see in his aura.

“Sorry for wasting your time with this one. Never know if people’s claims are true. I’ll still pay for your travel expenses and everything since you came all this way.”

Julien actually had quite a nice way of looking at life, though Sorren hoped for his sake that being as curious as a cat would also give him nine lives. Or at least eight, if the younger man had been through as much as he thought. Though he wanted to protest the “when” in “when it kills me,” he knew Julien well enough by now to imagine that he was likely to brush it off.

“Can’t say I’m particularly curious these days,” he said as they wandered among the antiques in his shop, looking for anything that stuck out. “We just have to find whatever is causing such a ruckus in the night, or eventually I’m gonna snap and break everything in here. If breaking it would even make it stop.”

       Gunshot cracked through the air like thunder, driving a nesting flock of birds from the trees in a frenzied cloud. Two more shots rang out, closer each time and echoing into the gathering dusk. The sound that followed was unmistakable: the whimper of a dog, or perhaps a wolf, in pain.

       “Over there!”

       “It went that way!”

       “Don’t let it get away!”

       The wolf sprinted through the undergrowth, narrowly missing trees and bushes as it went, panic starting to set in. She couldn’t remember which way she’d come from or how to make it back to the road but she ran as fast as she could. Pain seared into furred flesh, a red mess in her grey coat. Every bound shot white hot pain through her body but she couldn’t slow down. She could hear that hunters behind her, gaining on her. And all she could think to do was run.

       Then all at once she broke through the line of trees, out into the wide open and no, no, that’s not the way she wanted to go. The wolf hesitated only a moment, but to turn back was certain death. And ahead... there, a trace on the wind. Dogs. People. Or was it just one person? Didn’t matter, whoever it was they weren’t the one following her with shotguns. And she couldn’t keep running. Fatigue was setting in and she could already feel her body wanting to give up and give in, to change back. And if she changed out in the open... she was a sitting duck.

       The wolf made it a few yards into the open before letting out a deep, wounded howl, hoping at least the dogs would hear and maybe understand. She needed help and she needed it fast.
