Unboxing moment. Happy days 🤓 #mua 💄💋#colourmeninja #swazimade 🇸🇿
Day 5: So this next fragrance was one I received a sample of when I was 19 and found it horribly obnoxious. It smelled amazing on me though but I gagged every time I dabbed it on. Not anymore. It's Jean Paul Gaultier's Classique. It has the most beautiful packaging - shaped like a woman's body covered in a dusty-pink lace corset. Love the bottle. It's also one of those unique scents...I haven't found any that smell anything like it outside of the Gaultier family. Facts and figures: Launched: 1990 Fragrance group: Oriental Floral Main accords: Sweet, Vanilla, Powdery, Floral, Rose, Balsamic Top Notes: Rose, Rum Medium Notes: Narcissus, Vanilla, Orchid Base Notes: Vanilla, Amber, Tonka Bean, Sandalwood Once again, like most of my fragrances, it's an Oriental Floral because I tend to gravitate towards the eastern influences in my scents especially the Amber notes. I love this one because it has that signature powdery dry down which I love. It's a feminine scent, it's sexy and it's feisty. It's long-lasting on my skin - up to 8 hours and its siliage is heavy. You definitely get your money's worth. It's a summer fragrance best suited to a night out. But if you're one of those who spritzes whenever you feel like it, you know what...do you, boo. It goes for R1580 for a 100ml bottle and I believe it's well worth your hard earned coins. It's an oldie but definitely still a goodie. Day 3: Today I reviewed a true classic - Coco Chanel's Chanel No. 5. This is not a youthful scent and you will either fall in love with it at first sniff or eventually or you'll hate it - no middle ground. I hated it at first when my tastes tended towards the sweeter fragrances. Now I LOVE it. I also thank my friend Lungile Mzizi who'd talk about it and low-key convinced me to give it a chance. Facts and figures: Launched: 1986 Fragrance group: Floral Aldehyde Main accords: Woody, Powdery, Floral, Aldehydic, White Floral, Yellow Floral Top Notes: Aldehydes, Neroli, Ylang-Ylang, Peach, Bergamot Medium Notes: Jasmine, Rose, Lily of the Valley, Iris Base Notes: Sandalwood, Vetiver, Vanilla, Oakmoss, Patchouli Now I don't have a foggy clue what an aldehyde is but I suspect it's what puts people off this perfume initially while evincing images of an old lady. This is not a frivolous scent but it's a grown powerhouse of a fragrance. It hits you at first like a sucker punch but if you are patient and let it dry down it morphs into something truly unique and beautiful. This is an all seasons scent that can be worn throughout the day and into the night. Its siliage can be heavy depending on your personal body chemistry but its powdery dry down makes it suitable for a work environment. This lasts a very long time on my skin and makes me feel like I could buy an island and keep a pet Bengal tiger. Chanel No. 5 retails for R2270 for a 100ml bottle, a bit pricey but worth every golden drop. This is a top 3 in my collection and one of the fragrances I gravitate to as a daily scent. It's a grown woman scent and wouldn't suggest it for a younger woman unless they have a mature nose and tastes. I'm infinitely glad that I gave it a chance and it grew on me. A true blue classic. Day 2: Tested my Marc Jacobs Decadence Eau so Decadent today. First of all, a mad shout out to Marc Jacobs for the design of this bottle. It is ex-quisite. It's fashioned like a snakeskin handbag - gorgeous! Secondly, this is an Eau de Toilette so I didn't have major expectations with regards to longevity and siliage as it is less concentrated than an Eau de Parfum or a pure Parfum. Anyway let's go through the facts: Launched: 2017 Fragrance group: Oriental Floral Main accords: Fruity, Floral, Sweet, Green, Woody Top Notes: Pear, Blackcurrant, Ivy Medium Notes: Jasmine, Magnolia, Lily of the Valley Base Notes: White Amber, Raspberry, Cashmere Wood This fragrance contains quite a few fruity notes but it's blended well with the floral notes and the oriental touch of the white amber and the cashmere wood to balance it out and prevent it from drying down into an overly sweet cloying scent synonymous with a typical teenage fragrance. This is a spring/summer scent that can be worn throughout the day and into the night. Its siliage makes it soft enough to be worn to the office i.e. no one will know you're coming before you've even turned the corner. Longevity is moderate which is pleasantly surprising since this is an Eau de Toilette - I can still smell it on my skin even after over 10 hours. This retails for R1515 for a 100ml bottle. This is a favourite in my collection and I will definitely be rebuying it when it runs out. Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #perfumechallenge #day2 #colourmeninja #swazimade 🇸🇿
Day 1: Today I put my Miu Miu Eau de Parfum to the test. First facts and figures: Launched: 2015 Fragrance group: Floral Main accords: Green, Floral, Rose, White Floral, Citrus Top Notes: Lily of the Valley, Bergamot, Lemom Medium Notes: Jasmine, Rose, Green Notes, Blackcurrant, Peach Base Notes: Akigalawood, White Musk A unique but beautiful, fresh daytime, summer scent. Not offensive at all. Can be worn to the office. Definitely pick up on the fresh citrus top notes immediately and then later pick up on the peach mid note. Longevity is moderate and the silliage is moderate - you need to get close to me to detect it. Retails for R2303 for 100ml bottle. It's definitely one of a kind in my collection - nothing smells quite like it. Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #perfumechallenge #day1 #colourmeninja #swazimade 🇸🇿
