“Its time for the Jedi to end.” No, I do not believe that Luke is going to go dark. Luke currently thinks that everything is his fault. He tried to restore things & it all crumbled (we saw a glimpse in the teaser at 1:30 of his Jedi academy burning down) so he believes that “this” is the only solution. Luke, a boy who never gave up on his father, always seeing the good in everything is now broken..We see a snippet of some kind of books, these are the “Books of the Whills” or the Journal of the Whills, its kinda like a Force bible really. The shots were shown when Rey says “balance” at 1:03. We also get to see the infamous Jedi Order symbol. To add, there’s a poem from the journal that The Force Awakens novelization opened up with that said: “First comes the day Then comes the night. After the darkness Shines through the light. The difference, they say, is only made right By the resolving of grey Through refined Jedi sight.”-Journal of the Whills, 7:477 I can see Luke helping Rey, “refine the Jedi sight”, we know Rey has significance between her visions, her powerful connection to the Force & her lightsaber skills with no training…I see the grey Jedi rising, my friends. “The balance. It’s so much bigger.” Luke says at 1:10. He’s seeing something greater than the Force. Luke is going to change the teachings of the Jedi, reform them & create a new order, a new code. In the old canon, Luke rewrites the Jedi code, therefore diminishing the old teachings of the Jedi Order. He saw what happened to his father, prohibited from having feelings & love, being taught that anger was the path to evil. He saw what it did to him & at the end, it was Luke’s love for his father that turned him back to the light. And so, the grey Jedi are Force users who walk the line between the light & dark sides of the Force without surrendering to the dark side. They are neutral. They are in-between. They believed not only in the Force but in the balance. They believed that the Force did indeed have distinct light & dark sides, inherently good & evil, regardless of the user’s intentions. Without one side, the other could not exist & to truly be one with the Force, both must be mastered. They’ve been trying to prepare us for TLJ for a long time now, The Whills were introduced in Rogue One, Ahsoka Tano: the grey Jedi, the poem from the Journal of Whills that was in The Force Awakens novelization. So there you go. I do firmly believe that Luke will train Rey to rise as the first grey Jedi. Luke will not turn. He said “Its time for the Jedi to end.” because both the way of the Jedi & the Sith are wrong, he must create a new order. Light. Darkness. The BALANCE.
