“knock, knock,” asher said after already having opened the door. eyes glossing over jax. “are you nervous for the big show?” asher teased as he hung on the frame of the door with a loopy smile. it was the first night of the tour playing in radio city music hall, the biggest venue the band had played to date. it was kind of crazy to think that this would be their lives for the next couple of months. writing music, rehearsing, playing shows every night, and traveling together. “next thing you know we’ll be at madison square garden,” he grinned at the idea. most people dreamed, but asher believed. having jax as their opener just gave him more of a reason to go out into the crowd and absolutely blow them away and impress her further. they weren’t exactly “public” yet but with social media everyone was starting to put the pieces together. while asher simply avoided the questioned when he was asked... here he was hanging out in her room backstage instead of his own.“if you have nerves,” he teased further with a cheeky grin, “i know just how to relax before going on stage.” he knew she could hold her own. she could handle him after all, so he was sure a crowd of a couple thousand people was a piece of cake.

lauren’s right hand held the door to keep it just cracked open as she leaned against the doorframe. at least, that’s what it looked like to her sorority sister. her shoulder was leaning against the doorframe, but her hand was over ellie’s mouth in attempt to keep her quiet. she listened to her sister ramble on about one of the other girl’s in the house, “i appreciate you coming to me with this. let’s just sleep on it tonight and if you feel the same tomorrow morning, find me and we’ll take the next steps to resolve this immediately.” the sophomore was apprehensive, but nodded knowing that lauren had seniority as president of the sorority. “have a goodnight,” the blonde waved off, as she shut her door and quickly locked it. “jesus christ,” lauren hissed under her breath as she eyed ellie, dropping her hand from the girl’s mouth. “do you think she heard you?” they never hung out in lauren’s room because it meant she had to sneak ellie into the sorority house, but the other girl had managed to convince her. it was fair to say that the blonde was paranoid to say the least.

Soyun works at one of the places by her house - good girl, she is. Quiet, but, you can tell that she’s carried something upon her shoulders, that tragedy has made a home within her bones, and they’re more than casual lovers. But like recognizes like, doesn’t it, she’s seen the streets eat up and spit out MORE GIRLS LIKE HER than she cares to admit; and only in the rare moments do they manage to collect enough of themselves to prevent that slip, back into dangerous territory. But they don’t talk about that, not really - Sookhee slips in at 4 ams after her shift at the bar, in sneakers and cocktail dresses, with a pair of heels eternally slung over her shoulder and made to sit in the seat beside her when she ordered.

They’d talk about the shitty shifts they worked, and sometimes it’d be empty enough where she’d ask the other girl to take a seat with her, drinking enough coffee just to help serve them through unto the next commitment that they piled onto UNWILLING BODIES. And that’s when they quietly dive into the ways that they’ve shared too much, in a similar vein. The way that they’ve both found themselves out of the home, for reasons that challenged the norm. That they knew what it was like to have to be self-reliant, all too soon. And what it was like to live alone, unmoored from the rest of society that lived by daylight hours and expectations.

A tired smile wears, on lips that have been stripped from the violence of red that she adores for the darkened setting of her workplace, letting them part for a moment, measured in her response. “Sometimes you don’t realize how LOUDLY YOU CRY for help when you’re trying to keep it all in. But Soyun... you just have to open yourself up to the potential for people to care about you. To want to take care of you. And silence, or not, those people will try to help in what ways they can. Like I do, on nights like this. So. Why don’t you tell me what you’ve been bottling up for so long?”

he was in a rut. after scribbling lyric after lyric, it became jumbled and he decided to scratch all of it. he crumbles of the pieces of papers, pushing them aside as they started to clutter the table he was at. he wasn’t even sure what he wanted to order, could he eat the failure he created? of course not. this causes him to chuckle just a bit but it’s only a fleeting moment, the happiness is gone and he’s slouching in his seat. quick, sit up. give a smile. he clears his throat, placing the menu in front of him now as his finger graze over the selection. unsure, he looks up at the waitress, trying to give a polite smile but he’s unsuccessful. he wanted to busk in his sadness for a moment, waitress probably wondering why he was acting so weird. he lets out a sigh, eyes get in contact with the girl.
