Black cap, black shirt, can't lose.
I literally started sobbing the other night just before I went to bed because I was overwhelmed with how beautiful Sid is and how much I love him...and this isn't even the first time this has ever happened...
Does this happen to other people with their pets? Or crying out of extreme feelings of love or seeing great beauty in general? This is admittedly still kind of foreign to me since I'm much more accustomed to crying out of fear or frustration.
Sid is 4 today!!
Three years today with this beautiful boy!!!
I swear that Sid has accomplished a record amount of mischief this week:
-While my mom was visiting, he got her to feed him, she went to a yoga class, but then he woke ME up very insistently like he was as hungry as he usually is in the morning and so I fed him without seeing the note that she left me and I didn't realize what I'd done until I opened the fridge. Later that day my mom didn't want either of the half cans to be wasted but I didn't want the normal feeding rhythm to get thrown off so he hoodwinked us into giving him twice his daily amount of food.
-A couple days ago I noticed my phone was under 10% when I woke up - I literally always charge it overnight - so I went "well fuck me sideways" and concluded that he must have knocked it off the wireless charger when I was asleep. (To be fair, I've had phone woes all week since on Monday I was convinced I'd lost it and ran around campus freaking out when it had just fallen into a dark corner of my car, while today I just plain left it at home and had to have a student email me my own slides to teach because of goddamn two-factor authentication.)
-And then today my mom and I had some service requests done in my apartment and he was so freaked out when the handymen came that he went and hid himself so well that when we came home from the doctor that we could not find him literally anywhere after 15 minutes, even in the particularly sneaky corners he's been known to frequent. Even though this has happened before with him, I started crying and worrying that he'd escaped or else crushed or poisoned himself. We wound up calling the rental office and one of the handymen came back to help - it turns out he was on the back corner of the highest cabinet in the guest bathroom and we had literally all overlooked him. I was so overwhelmed that I was sobbing and shouting "My baby! My baby!" when the handyman got him down and handed him to me.
I can never stay angry at him and as a rule I don't swear at him since that would make me feel too mean...but he really tested me this week.
@big-trickster-energy if you're sad then have a Sid 😻
There are only two correct answers to the question "who's the cutest cat in the world?": "One's own cat" (I say that specific wording instead of "my cat" so I don't appear to be talking about my own particular cat* here) - since if you don't think your own cat is the cutest what are you even doing? - and "Lil Bub"; thus there is only one correct answer for Lil Bub's humans, but nobody else.
*although he is CERTAINLY a contender
