I have a white therapist. She treats OCD. I am able to have conversations about racism with her because she actually listens to me🙏🏽 she doesn’t deny how isolating it is to never see yourself in media.

But like holy shit, people of color are allowed to be mad about being underrepresented. White people dance around shit all the time, they’re uncomfortable about anything that makes their whiteness uncomfortable.

It sucks seeing the black character get the least fan work, it sucks watching a show and the only slightly tan character isn’t even apart the story. I’ll tell you, the best rep I got when I was younger was probably doc mcstuffins (which btw she is my GOAT🙏🏽 I feel like all black little girls should watch her)

I was just old enough to miss mcstuffins for myself but being able to have her around for my younger cousins was everything. One asked me if she could be a doctor because al her docs had been white and she had no clue ubtil mcstuffins she could be one! Mcstuffibs is proof representation not only matters but positively impacts us! Now we'll have one more black doc thanks to her

Yes !! Bearded vultures are really cool... I had a friend who had a dnd character with a vulture companion and while I don't remember what kind they ultimately settled on, a bearded vulture was one of their initial thoughts and that led me down a rabbit hole looking at pictures of them a few years back. I think they're really pretty :)

Our Dreams At Dusk

A manga that handles the homophobia, transphobia, etc in Japan.

It’s just a really beautifully illustrated book first of all, and it handles these said issues very well.

I just really think it is important to show how oppression and discrimination can differ or be influenced depending on the country and culture it is in.

Daybreak

Daybreak is a webtoon that has amazing representation!

The main couple are both transgender and black (One being trans male and the other being nonbinary.)

Theres also very good disability representation!

I feel like there just isn’t a lot of good representation of black queer couples. Especially ones that just— exist, yknow?

Felix Ever After

Felix Ever After is a book about a black trans male who was exposed (I think they either exposed his deadname or his picture when he was younger)

It depicts transandrophobia veryyy well. Especially the transandrophobia black trans males face.
