Please can anyone help a queer household, with two people of color, pay bills so we can squish our main money to make rent! We all would like to avoid a world we we have to be returned to transphobic or outright unsafe parent households.

We have a month of rent, and while we are working on plans and reaching out to housing help, any help to pay side bills so main checks can be saved would be appreciated.

This post was a throwaway post of annoyance at someone unironically asking what laws had to do with oppression because they were arguing that a trans man being mean online was one of the worst oppressions they faced.

I actually think trans men should very much be upset at people being mean but don't take online hostility to be the whole of how you think oppression works.

Being known at all online is weird, but what’s worse is how comfortable people get acting like the version of you they’ve assembled is the same thing as 'You'.

They’ll watch you through a handful of posts, or hear about you secondhand through someone else’s interpretation, and then start acting as if they’ve solved you.

It’s not harmless. It turns into people correcting you about your own intentions, speaking over you about your own experiences, or treating you according to a pattern they decided was there instead of actually engaging with what you’re saying in the moment.

A lot of it is built on layers of distance too. Not just “I saw your posts” but “I saw someone else’s opinion of your posts” or “I heard a summary of something you said once,” and somehow that gets treated as solid ground to stand on.

And then people feel justified being invasive, or presumptive, or even hostile, because in their mind they’re not dealing with a person, they’re dealing with a narrative.

It’s strange how quickly someone can go from “I follow you/Heard xyz about you” to “I understand you” to “I get to define you.”

Especially when the original material was never meant to carry that kind of weight. Posts are fragments. Moods. Snapshots. They’re not a full, stable record of a person.

And treating them like they are isn’t just inaccurate, it’s invasive. It flattens someone into something easier to handle, and then punishes them for not matching it perfectly.

You’re allowed to notice patterns. That’s normal. But acting on them like they’re facts about a stranger is something else entirely.

People aren’t puzzles you get to solve from a distance and then enforce your answer onto.

And it’s genuinely unsettling how normalized that’s become.

Hi there, I’m going to be 4 days late on rent as I’m currently short $500/950. I should be able to cover another $400 by the end of the week, but after doing some math it doesn’t seem like I can get the last $150 on my own.
