✨This week's HOROSCOPE: . . . Compared to the fairly sensational "fireworks" of last week, this week the roaring lion might instead seem to be more of a restless house cat. There are alignments that will drive us to excess if we are not careful, so it's not yet the right time to bust out the party supplies (though certainly many of us will be feeling the itch). . . . I've been thinking a lot about Mercury retrograde in Leo, and I thought this week might be a good time to muse a bit further on it. Mercury isn't considered that well placed in Leo by modern astrologers. This is because the rational mind (Mercury) is swallowed by the intense heat and light of the Sun here. All thought must be filtered through the personal experience and those thoughts tend to revolve tightly around the Self and ego like Mercury around the Sun. This alignment makes for deeply-held dogmatic beliefs that are rigid and not easily surrendered since they are rooted in pride. A retrograde in Leo asks that we turn inward and examine the foundations of those beliefs along with the foundational beliefs that that we hold about ourselves. In a high expression the solar lion is generous, loving, devoted, protective, creative, and radiant. A retrograde Mercury here drives us to find and examine ways in which we can facilitate the development of these qualities in our own lives.
