Hello hello! I’m currently rereading Cryptid Sightings and two questions came to mind.

What if the boys came clean after the encounter with the rake instead of keeping their secret?

And how would their hunter (and Vanessa I guess) react to Eclipse needing to rest like after the flash bang in the vampire encounter?Perhaps after a conflict with other hunters that goes not so well? I feel like Eclipse tries hard to appear okay after getting injured and I’m very curious to see the hunter’s reaction when Eclipse can’t immediately be like “I’m good- not great but I’ll live”

Oh gosh, if the boys had come clean after the Rake, it would have saved them all so much trouble. Y/N would be much more adjusted to the possessed animatronic actually being a cryptid and trust Eclipse more, especially when Vanessa calls. Y/N wouldn't have salt in their pocket from the diner because Y/N wouldn't have separated from Eclipse during the hunt for Shoh, and so on and so forth. Y/N wouldn't have been possessed—they could have saved Vanessa much sooner.

Y/N knows that Eclipse has this weakness, so it's not necessarily a shock, but they wouldn't like Eclipse trying to downplay it or make it seem like it's not a big deal. Their sweetie is hurt! It's a big deal! There's some room there to point out Y/N's hypocrisy in downplaying their injuries, but ultimately, Eclipse allows Y/N to help them until they can find an animal and nom on a fresh heart.

Vanessa would quietly tuck that information away. Just in case.

I’m sorry to bother you but I’m being haunted by the idea that if Robin had pets, it would’ve made the reveal happen so much faster (or maybe because I can’t shut up about my pets)

Or alternatively, the crucial detail that the thing Robin/Y/n is talking about is actually a pet and whichever boy they’re talking to gets progressively more jealous because they think it’s a person. (Personally I can just see Sun finally snapping like ‘WHO is this person??’ And y/n is just like ‘…my pet?? I’ve told you this before?’) (I also think it would make the rival pretty grumpy since I actually refer to my horse as a teammate/partner quite often. I feel like that would irk both Dusk and Dawn)

It's not a bother at all!! I talked about a pets a liiittle bit here, though there the focus was more on if they'd have a pet at all.

Also don't underestimate how stupid they can be, they're the idiot trio for a reason fhjdks

Definitely thinking of like. That one tweet along the lines of "My neighbor told me she overhears my arguments with my boyfriend but I've just been talking to my cat" so it's like. The neighbor being so well-meaning but assuming there's straight up another person living there. The pet has a person name to make things worse, because Y/N is a little shit and also terribly lonely and is somewhat pretending they have a social circle beyond the boys. Feels to embarrassed to admit to the truth.

Pet turns out to be a cat. Sun wants to scream. He was jealous of a cat but knowing it's a cat somehow only made things worse. Moon is questioning his life, realizing that he was grumpy over 1) Y/N liking their neighbor, who is Sun, and 2) Y/N talking about their roommate, who is a pet.

Once they know it's a pet I think they'd be chill with any terms - just don't use the same for them, maybe hfjdsk like a horse can be a partner but don't call them partner right after, when the horse association is still there!

There's also the issue of the vague large city setting, that'd make some pets trickier n some you just. can't hide. A dog needs to be walked, there'd be dog toys in the lawn, many animals are loud or leave some sort of evidence of their existence - so yeah, if Y/N had a pet there'd be a whole new variable to consider!

(It also would really throw a wrench into the "ohh we are so good for long term missions you want to not fire us so bad" argument that keeps them all employed after Nacreous Cloud)

Lots of potential for hilarity, lots of shenanigans, and some complications I am glad to have dodged in canon - but always fun to think about hehe!

I’m sorry to barge in like this but I was at a festival today and one vendor was selling crochet cigars and it immediately made me think of Sleuth Jesters, either the vigilante gifting a domesticated bounty hunter Eclipse with a ‘special cigar’ they found out and about just for the giggles or detective y/n getting their police chief a precinct-friendly cigar for when he’s in the office. Idk I saw them and it made me think of you. I hope your day is good and that you are well!

Um, so, if someone were to have written a silly little self indulgent (100% sfw) drabble featuring your AU Sun, would you want to be tagged in it or would you prefer them to keep it to themselves?? No pressure either way I was just curious. I hope you have a lovely day.

The most important criterium is the sfw, so I'm absolutely making grabby hands! I love seeing people be self indulgent with my AU!! I just might take a bit to get to reading it (I'm acutely stressed until including tomorrow, then it's catch up time for everything I am behind...) but the delay absolutely isn't disinterest!! I love that you wrote something for him, makes me more motivated to get back to Taking Flight's Sun companion piece too!!

Guh Taking Flight was so good I can’t even. Seeing how different the dynamic was at verses where it ends was just- like dang. Robin seeing Dusk go through the same things they did as a rookie and having a choice to either let him suffer like they did or intervene. YES ROBIN BREAK THE CYCLE EVEN IF YOURE PISSED. The defending scene was definitely different than what I thought. Props to Robin for being a great shot I guess. Poor Dusk was just standing there like 😳. I doubt he was expecting that. Ugh and then their little chat. It hurt my heart. Seeing him so upset just- ah! Robin’s little inner dialogue of ‘plus nobody likes you’ it just makes me so sad! Like I know it’s supposed to but just seeing it come back again and again…man. There’s so much more that I want to say but my dinners sitting in the microwave and I’m starving. SO, long story short- awesome chapter, awesome writing, you’re amazing, have a good day and take care of yourself

Ahaha yes, it was a lot of fun depicting the start of their dynamic, since before I had mostly dabbled in the more established "rivalry" slash friendship later on in the timeline! (and then of course, everything post reveal!) Getting to really pry into Robin's mind and show why they are the way they are, why in any timeline the senior agents are just rougher around the edges and struggle to trust, that was a lot of fun!

The defending scene definitely changed from how I originally depicted it here - though I will simply say that that post can just be a different instance. With my non-chronological approach, a few concepts just end up different, and I knew it would mean a lot more if Robin already had to confront that fear of losing their rank, is confronting it, and still chooses to defend Dusk. Because it's the right thing to do.

Because no one did it for them.

They're not without their scars, and they isolated themself to avoid rejection and now, with Dusk and the honestly fun interactions, they suddenly have to face the fact that isolation may be better than rejection, but they're lonely and they very much enjoy being around people if those people don't treat them like a joke.

Dusk doesn't know everything going on in Robin's mind - or he wouldn't have asked. But he saw their reaction when he asked if they gave up on fun, he saw the sticker, and he realizes that they went through years of this treatment alone. He's not happy about it, and he's not about to make huge concessions - he's a sarcastic little fuck when he asks them to explain! But he does see their struggle for what it is, and appreciates their company, so he does indulge, he does go back to "bothering" them, riling them up and making them laugh.

And thus a rivalry is born, now that both are star ranked agents!
