Drank the last of the sweet-milk last night while half-asleep and ended up putting the carton back in the fridge. Think Viktor wasn't happy (he did whack me pretty hard in the shin when I came in the kitchen)

To be honest anon, I’m procrastinating on a lot of projects I should be working on at the moment.

I have a long list of orders for augmentations, and I’m supposed to be doing a Shimmer run for one of the barons. But all I want is to lay back with a glass of sweetmilk with Rio on my lap.

Just found out that 'sweet milk' is just fresh whole milk (as opposed to sour milk, or buttermilk), and was a term used in recipes from the Depression so... Viktor just really likes milk, I think? Idk jaybe (wow omg so funny) I misinterpreted something

Listen. I love the Viktor-loves-his-sweetmilk bit we got from LOL lore but. Have you considered… lactose-intolerant!Viktor? What if fresh milk was a luxury in the undercity, a rare treat for an undernourished child, Viktor only gained regular access to and a taste for it once in Piltover and by then ignored the gastrointestinal distress because, between scarcity, poor food quality and various ailments anyway you never connect the dots between such-or-such foodstuff and upset tummy, you just eat and drink what you get your hands on, brings nutrients and if possible tastes good, and you don’t make a fuss? Then years pass, he’s got worst on his plate, augments start happening, then keep happening and at some point when you’ve replaced your lungs, liver, kidneys, whatever, what’s stopping you from upgrading your gut and giving yourself more-competent enzymes because hey, you’re supposed to digest food, not the other way round! So lactase add-on it is and oh, sweetmilk is even better now?

Heh. Now that I’ve put it into words I don’t think it makes that much sense. Won’t make that my own headcanon. I’m not even lactose-intolerant myself so it’s not like I’m projecting. Call that a thought experiment and feel free to pick apart/discard it/adopt it if you like it enough?

Random Headcanons:

Viktor’s favorite and least favorite food.

We have confirmation from the game Sweet Milk is his favorite beverage. But as far as FOOD goes probably something homemade like goulash would be nice. He likes good food but due to his work habits he never finds the time to actually cook.

Now… least favorite food. Oysters!

All his life he would have been told they were too poisonous to eat cuz of the pollution Zaun has.

Cut to later. Hextech is made and it’s Viktor and Jayce’s first Gala. Viktor quickly finds he hates big crowds and tries to blend into the background. But Jayce has had too much wine and is naturally offering some of Piltover’s finest—- oysters to try. Viktor tries to turn it down, but Jayce is insistent its not that bad. Viktor trusts him and figures maybe it’s not so bad…. Despite the fact it looks like Rio on a plate.

Big mistake! It tastes like he took a gulp from an aquarium. He’s turning about 50 shades of green and is staggering to the nearest waste basket. But he misses and ends up puking all over Mel’s chest. All the while Jayce bumbles in bewilderment. Viktor’s never been to a Gala since. Mel doesn’t even speak to him much. And he’s never had another oyster again.

Luckily Sky was armed and ready with Sweet Milk. Brings new meaning to Viktor’s line “At least you didn’t throw up.”
