(Okay, here it comes...). Klaus, what were your feelings when you thought you've found a friend in Robert but at the end he left you alone and let you go?
I wish to amend my previous interaction with you.
It was a pleasure to make your acquaintance.
Now, I am not so sure.
I was not surprised that it happened. This type of thing happens to me fairly regularly. More so when I was a child - many of my 'friends' were simply the children of my father's friends, and they quickly tired of me - but it does still happen.
I thought Robert was different, and that perhaps he would remain loyal, but Wrangel was - is - the senior officer. Most seamen would support him, in a similar situation. I was not popular, and had very little support from the crew. As soon as Tennstedt turned against me, I knew I would never be liked aboard that boat.
If Robert had stood with me, all that would have changed would have been that there were three of us in that lifeboat.
He did the right thing. He has a family, and they need him. It's true he no longer has his wife or son, but he has nieces and nephews...
