YAAAY questions!
1. Favorite musical(s)? This is always tough, but my overarching forever favorite is Les Miserables.
2. Least favorite musical(s)?I don’t really know enough to have like a hardcore un-favorite, I typically just listen to what I like? I don’t particularly care for The B/ook of Mor//mon though, considering I actually did serve a mission and stuff.
3. Favorite score(s)?The Lion King, Sunday in the Park with George, Hamilton, etc etc etc.
4. Favorite composer(s)?Stephen Sondheim, Jeanine Tesori, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Alan Menken
5. Favorite actor(s)?Aaron Tveit, Chris Dwan (sorry I am Chris trash forever), Jeremy Jordan, Brian d’Arcy James, Chris Sieber, Christian Borle, Will Chase, probably a lot more.
6. Favorite actress(es)?Katie Rose Clarke, Heidi Blickenstaff, Megan McGinnis, Kerry Butler, Sutton Foster, Bernadette Peters, Renee Elise Goldsberry, Jessie Mueller, a billion more.
8. Favorite overture?THIS IS A HARD ONE. The Phantom of the Opera is so iconic, so maybe that. I also LOVE the Beauty and the Beast Prologue. Honorable mention to the Chicago Overture, and the very beginning of “No One Mourns the Wicked” in Wicked.
11. Favorite scene?Well jeez. “It’s Quiet Uptown” from Hamilton, “Breathe” from In the Heights, “Will Power” from Something Rotten! (honestly a rock concert? brilliant), the scene at the end of Daddy Long Legs when Jervis tells Jerusha he loves her, and a thousand more.
Thanks for the questions!
Have fun at the sound of music!! I expect a full review upon your return :)
YES I HAVE RETURNED FROM MY SOUND OF MUSIC ADVENTURE AND WILL NOW REVIEW IT FOR YOU LOVELY PEOPLE.
To start, I actually don’t really like the movie The Sound of Music so I’ve only ever seen it once, and therefore went to see the musical with pretty low expectations. But oh my goddddd it was AMAZING. The girl who played Maria was phenomenal, like WOW. The rest of the cast was also incredible but the real star (for me anyway) was the woman who played Mother Abbess, she was just outstanding. The set and backgrounds were beautiful, and they really made the show very special. I am just so blown away by how amazing the show was because holy heck it was so so good. The whole cast meshed so well together and you could tell they truly enjoyed being in the show and that made it seem even better. But yeah, 10/10 for The Sound of Music!
