So I headcanon both Bumlets and Swifty as being bisexual but I see them as being very different versions of bi (content warning for mentions of religion, internalized homophobia/biphobia, and racism)

Because on one end of the scale, you have Bumlets. A born-and-raised Puerto Rican Catholic who clings to his faith as a way to cope with his grief from losing his family. Who wears a Saint Christopher medal around his neck during his every waking moment and attends Mass every Sunday and every Holy Day of Obligation. Who realized that he noticed boys the same way he noticed girls when he was 14 and was so ashamed of his feelings that he couldn't even admit them in confession. Who aches and struggles and agonizes about his feelings for years before deciding to accept himself as he is, even if it means Damnation.

And on the other end of the scale, you have Swifty. A half-white, half-Chinese boy living in a country where many people believe his existence to be a sin and where many states have made it illegal for children like him to exist. Who lost his parents when he was 8 because one man chose hatred the same way his parents chose love all those years ago. Who realized at 12 that he liked boys as much as he liked girls and resigned himself to being different in yet another way that made people hate him. Who decided that he wouldn't be ashamed of himself or his feelings because he refuses to give anyone the satisfaction of his self-loathing.
