🌟🌟Featured Photo🌟🌟 from @southwestimages - @cassyarchphotography with the #SWImages tag from Valley of Fire again! 🔥 Located in the Tularosa basin, north of White Sands, outside of Carrizozo, the Valley of Fire is a 45 mile long lava flow of buckled, twisted basalt, 165 feet thick and over 45 miles long. The lava flow originated from several nearby volcanoes, including Little Black Peak, 9 miles northwest of Carrizozo. The volcanic activity was relatively recent, occurring between 1,500 and 5,000 years ago. The southern edge of the lava flow is 17 miles north of White Sands National Monument (at Valley of Fires State Park)
