I have an old drawing that’s kinda related to this idea where his features starting to resemble king’s… I’ve been thinking about redrawing it

could you do a tutorial on how you draw Lancer or show your process on how you draw him?? the way you draw lancer is amazing and so cute!!!

I’m not really sure how to show how I draw him, I just kinda… do it. But I’ll do my best to show you! (Also bear in mind this is for my doodles. I only draw for fun so I don’t know any Cool Art Techniques, I just do whatever. For my bigger drawings I basically just do this on a larger scale and then throw colours at the wall and see what sticks)

His head is THE SINGLE MOST ANNOYING THING TO DRAW ABOUT HIM. It always takes me forever to get a shape I like, and then if it’s looking a bit sad I’ll make the top kinda floppy, like his sprites! Liquify tool is your friend unless you’re using the pixelly brush I tend to go for. If I’m using the pencil I like to get out sometimes I’ll liquify a LOT. But the pixelly one gets all weird and compressed and ugly if I liquify it so I don’t use it for that. But anyway, once I’ve got his head and face, I usually make his body completely round. For some poses I’ll give him a little more of a body shape - you might have already noticed that. For expressions I stretch the spade shape to its absolute limit. If you go back to my old posts (like years ago), you may notice that I didn’t give the little spike at the top so it didn’t really look like a spade anymore, I decided to change that because. Well. It’s supposed to be a spade.

I have no idea how to explain this so here’s a video of me drawing him that you can watch to hopefully see what I mean and to see what brushes I like to use! Sorry I can’t explain in words much better. I’m rushing a little bit and also just did his leg wrong at the end LOL so I included a speedpaint for one of my doodle pages as well hahaha

Here’s a Lancer! …a slightly despondent one but a Lancer nonetheless!

I go into a little Ramble below about my thoughts on Lancer & King but it's not exactly positive.

My one notable issue with Deltarune is how King's cruel treatment of Lancer onscreen is sort of... swept under the rug Post Chapter 1. I'm fine with King becoming more of a Pathetic, Comedic character after his defeat, but I think the game goes too far with sanding down his edges. The later chapters can feel almost... Uncomfortable with the reality of King's actions towards his son. Personally, I just wanted to see more of Lancer's feelings on what happened (though he'd likely brush it off himself.)
