Bow, Case and Arrows from the Schnidejoch Pass, Switzerland dated around 2800 BCE on display at the Bern Historical Museum in Bern, Switzerland
The bow shaft is made from yew with arrows made from vibernum and flint arrowheads. The protective case is constructed from birch bark cork and reinforced with wood and leather to protect the bow and arrows. Global warming has resulted in many parts of the pass melting and has revealed archaeological artefacts from the Neolithic to Bronze ages.
These objects show the construction techniques and the use of resources by Neolithic peoples. The owner of these tools has been called Schnidi similar in the way the archaeological remains found in Ötztal Alps were named Ötzi.
