on the helicarrier, steve being all “don’t make me do this” while tws just stares him down, but beneath the silence is fuck he’s cute focus soldier i like the outfit weak armor why’d he cover up his hair bullets will pierce it bet it looks good all mussed up by the helmet he’s your mission he looks strong nothing you haven’t dealt with before his arms are so thick will the shield be a problem bet he could throw me around like he does it what the fuck soldier
you bet his heart does a little flip when the blond man all but throws away his life to come down and lift that debris off him
of course, he tells himself it’s the adrenaline, it’s a cracked rib, it’s from his broken arm, could it be mind control? (at this point, can’t rule that out.) and he tries to punch it away, the burn of defeat or injury or feelings- failure, of some kind, within his chest…
until the man slips away, and this time he decides that’s enough.
it’s all a blur after that point. (maybe he deliberately lets it be.) if he feels warmth, it’s probably from past memories returning, rather than having his arms around that muscular, yet surprisingly huggable frame, right? and if he feels happiness, it’s probably that he’s just used his strength to save instead of kill someone, rather than the childish reason of that someone being a really cute and very kind person, right?
