Day 4 of @feinktober - SWORD UNIT
Full art set for Legendary Ryoma!
Quick overview
Ryoma has a legendary form and in the words of my friend May “Is it really a wise idea to be carrying a big hurty lighting sword on a bird” and that’s how I’m gonna remember this character. Ryoma is fast, hits hard and has decent bulk, but awful resistance. All things aside, Ryoma is decent unit to fill the role on a mixed or flier team.
Base kit
Ryoma keeps his base forms, Raijinto which is basically distant counter at this point. Amazing weapon overall. Glimmer is a good option for a budget build, but slightly outclassed by Moonbow for him. Guidance is an amazing support skills and makes him, along with Tana, the only units to be able to abuse it with skills like the heavy blade seal without SI. Kestral stance is essentially swift sparrow in reverse but while looking amazing the speed won’t help that much due to his naturally high speed. Finally Bushido is an amazing skill just Ryoma will prefer a lot of other B slots.
Literally, slap on reposition for missing skills and you have a unit.
Pros + Cons
+Amazing weapon
+Amazing offences at 34/39
+Flyer movement and buffs avilable
-Poor res hurts
-Arguably his B slot wants so many things and he can’t have them all.
-His DC sword don’t help player phase
Partners
Flier teams are insane for Ryoma, the best partner being NY Azura who is able to provide dance support but also tank some blues and beat them with triangle adept. Cordelia, Tana and Shigure are also nice partners for the team as well. As for Infantry and armours mage tanks like Sonya, Julia, Soren, Sheena etc all find a way to help Ryoma. Sheena is notable as she really enjoys water blessing support. Finally Fjorm can’t be looked over as she has the ablity to provide a unit +3 spd to go with Ryomas +4 def.
Suggested set(s)
Sudoku
Suggested ivs: +atk/spd -res/hp
Raijinto, reposition, moonbow/glimmer
Slot A = Fury, brazen atk/def
Slot B = desperation,vantage,bushido
Slot C = guidance or any c skill
Sacred seals: heavy blade, drive atk, def tactic, atk+3
A semi mixed phase set, Ryoma really wants fury for the ability to hit 37/42 with no ivs, with a +atk iv thats 40/42, incredibly deadly. Desperation can be used if you want pure sweeping, while vantage offers classic ryoma support and is powerful with DC. You can also use it with brazen atk/def. Bushido is also viable but takes longer to charge.
DO NOT DIRECT LIGHTING TO THE BIRDS
Suggested ivs: +Atk/spd/def - res/hp
Slaying edge+/Wo dao+, reposition, moonbow
Slot A = Distant counter
Slot B = bushido
Slot C = any c slot
Sacred seals: quick riposte, quickened pulse, close defence, distant defence
Weapon Refinery: +spd here
So that Ayra set everyone hates? Yeah Ryoma can do that pretty well, especially thanks to flier buffs which push his stats to extreme’s which enable him to unleash powerful moonbows. The choice of weapon is up to you, prefer massive one shot destruction? +20 damage with a wo dao is nice, but generally Ryoma will prefer a slaying edge to make moonbow a 1 turn cooldown, take a hit, fire off and if they live, he’ll probably double, recharging it up for the next foe in player phase. If we ever get a renewal seal, Ryoma will be able to make good use of it.
Quick overview
Lene is a pretty solid dancer, she’s the second red dancer added to the game, the other being Olivia and well, Lene is very similar to Olivia, sharing similar attack, but trading bulk for speed. This is both good and bad as the amount of bulk she gives up for the amount of speed she gains is questionable, but for the most part they are the same unit. This means if you enjoy Olivia, you’ll enjoy Lene.
Base kit
Lene comes with a new blade in safeguard+ which grants +7 def when attacked. A very solid weapon indeed and useable by a lot of units, though Lene makes splendid use of it due to being fast and a dancer, who wants to avoid combat. Firestorm dance is well situational, its the best dance skill in the game but wings of mercy is so valuable with dancers it’s hard to argue against it, it’s a solid budget option however. Sword valour is more for training and very nice to have when needed especially on a dancer, and finally dance is what makes Lene good, as dance is the best assist in the game.
As for A slots, fury helps her general bulk as well as improving her speed. Swift stance is another good option for this, while close defence can make her very bulky. Moonbow is her ideal Special for quick activation.
Pros + Cons
+Solid stat line
+Sturdy weapon with its use’s
+Comes with some decent skills
-Her weapon may need changing
-Kinda hits like a noodle
-Olivia is f2p and very similar, so if you just want one dancer...
Partners
Anyone seriously, especially those using hp based skills as she can abuse wings of mercy to reach them faster.
Suggested set(s)
I wanna dance with somebody
Suggested ivs: +spd/atk -res/hp
Safeguard+, dance, moonbow
Slot A = fury
Slot B = wings of mercy
Slot C = hones, fortifies or tactics, or any c skill you need.
Sacred seals: spd+3, close defence
Weapon refinery = Speed again is best here but you can go with a defence buff if you wanted.
A basic budget set for Lene, but very effective. Fury is used for the all around stat buff making her bulkier and faster. Safeguard combined with close defence gives a whopping 13 defence during enemy phase, which with fury puts her at 39 defence, 43 if you end up with a +def Lene. Finally wings of mercy is used to reach low hp units, while the choice of c skill is up to you, Lenes a prime choice for tactic skills so take those into account if you have them.
A lene mean killene machine
Suggested ivs: +spd/def -res/hp
Slaying edge/Wo dao+, dance, moonbow/luna
Slot A = fury
Slot B = wings of mercy
Slot C = hones, fortifies, drives, tactics or any c skill you need
Sacred seals: spd+3, def tactic, close defence
Weapon refinery = Speed again is best here but def has merits if +def iv
Basically for Lene to truly shine she needs a slaying edge or wodao. The former lets her proc moonbow whenever attacked, punishing those trying to take her down, or wo dao adds +10 to special triggers. The rest is pretty much the same, but this set can be used player phase if need be as Lene shouldn’t struggle getting doubles.
Quick overview
Karla essentially is the newest Ayra or Mia to join the game. However the access to the best base weapon of the 3, and coming with wrath naturally cannot be easily bested. Infact generally she’s an amazing unit, the only thing she might wish for is more bulk, which is where Mia and Ayra shine over her. Offering more defence than her. Still They all do the same sort of job which means anyone who’s face Ayra will know how deadly Karla can be.
Oh and on a side note, with parents like Karla and Bartre HOW ON EARTH DOES FIR HAVE SUCH LOW ATK I’m honestly at a loss.
Base kit
Vassal’s blade not only has a slaying effect but a added speed damage bonus, where she’ll deal extra damage based on the difference of speed -30%. This can go to a max of +7 damage meaning at base she will deal +7 to anyone 30 speed or lower, and with even spd wave, her c skill which grants her and adjacent allies +6 spdon even turns, she’ll be able to get the +7 damage on foes with 36> speed which is a good portion of the cat, which only becomes higher as you stack Spurs and seals. Draconic aura also makes a nice special dealing 30% of her atk, though she may ultimately prefer moonbow or glimmer. Finally wrath adds +10 to her special procs when below 75% hp and accelerates her cooldown.each turn. This means in the right setting she can deal +17 damage to a foe.
Overall this makes Karla very busted at base, really only needing an A slot, which will determine how you play her. Fury is an option as would be ;life and death but full premium arena builds will slap on DC.
Pros + Cons
+Amazing offensive unit
+A great one hit wall thanks to her speed
+Amazing base weapon giving her everything she needs
-Low def compared to similar sword units is a negative
-A lot of competition from both Ayra and Mia, but other red swords in general too
-Her low defences mean she won’t be tanking much
Partners
Really Karla can potentially sweep a team on her own but anyone to boost her atk/spd are enjoyed like Linde and Delthea. Brave Lucina is notable for Geriskoguls passive and being a solid tank unit, as Karla will need help tanking.
Suggested set(s)
It runs in the family
Suggested ivs: +atk/spd -def/res/hp
Vassals blade, reposition , moonbow/glimmer/draconic aura
Slot A = Fury, swift sparrow, life and death
Slot B = desperation, wrath
Slot C = even spd wave or any C skill
Sacred seals: atk +3, spd+3, phantom speed
So the set most people will run will mainly be slapping on a assist and then a offensive A skill. Fury is arguably the most helpful putting you in wrath or desperation range, while swift sparrow and life and death are also solid options. The choice of B slot is really up to you, one deals more damage the other lets you sweep. If you don’t mind having to turtle sometimes, Wrath is for you, if you just want the foe dead once you’re close to death go desperation.
Vassals sight
Suggested ivs: +atk/spd -res/hp
Vassals blade, reposition , moonbow/glimmer
Slot A = distant counter
Slot B = wrath
Slot C = even spd wave or any C skill
Sacred seals: atk +3, spd+3, phantom speed
So the prime time slaying edge + DC + 1 turn special meta for fast sword units is very good for Karla especially since her weapon is a refined slaying edge with a bonus effect. The choice of moonbow or glimmer is what you have. Moonbow will always deal some extra damage while glimmer always gives you an avg +3 damage due to to the weapons passive but requires you outspeed the foe by 10. I personally would prefer moonbow in higher end arena.
Quick overview
So the long awaited Corrin buff is here and erm, I think instys annoyed a lot of people. Basically Corrin has darting blow 2 in his weapon already, instead he can trade that for a +2 to all stats bar hp which is solid. A lot of people are upset over no quad blow skill, but to be frank this is better imo, for reference it’s as if you merged 5 Corrins together. The refine however is interesting and I’ll talk about it in a sec, but in general Corrin has shifted from wanting offence, to a more mixed role.
Base kit
Corrins base Yato grants +4 speed on initiation but once refined gives +2 to all stats, the new version is better but the refined extra skill is interesting. Basically Corrin’s support partner gets +4 to all stats if in two spaces. Which is good but also a complete support skill. It’s worth noting if you don’t use supports then a +spd refine is the next best option. Dragon fang is too long of a cooldown and Corrin has better options, while def+3 is nice, obstruct is pointless all things considered.
If going for support Corrin, then drive skills are ideal, to go with the Yato effect, otherwise threatens are solid options too.
Pros + Cons
+Solid offences
+Solid defences too
+Can be a solo or support unit
-Needs a lot of SI
-Can be expensive
-His refine is pointless if you don’t use supports.
Partners
Corrin is a bulky unit in general, so having someone for sustain is nice. For this Delthea and Linde are appreciated. However if looking for support partners, the best colour to look at is green, the unit who can beat blues, and logically Fae and Kana F are solid choices for this, infact Kana F fits the theme of father and daughter. Camilla is a solid choice due to guidance support, but her new weapon lack the exchange, while units like Hector will always enjoy it.
Suggested set(s)
Corrinleader!
Suggested ivs: +Atk/def/spd -res/hp
Yato, reposition, Bonfire
Slot A = Brazen atk/spd, fury, sturdy stance, steady breath, close defence
Slot B = quick riposte, guard
Slot C = drive skills
Sacred seals: drive skills
Weapon Refinery: The bond version, so he can support his partner more.
Basically a support set for Corrin, Corrin wants to be as bulky as possible for a defensive set. Corrins best A slot is brazen and speed, which sky rockets both phases, but in general the speed helps him avoid doubles from Ayra. Quick riposte can be used to ensure a double but guard is useful for countering units like Ayra who rely on specials to One round foes. Finally drive skills are great this means Corrin can support an ally for +7 in two stats and +4 in two others before the actual support bonuses. If you’re focusing on support corrin you want to make him long as long as possible.
I make my own fate!
Suggested ivs: +atk/spd -res/hp
Yato, reposition, bonfire/draconic aura
Slot A = Fury, swift sparrow, brazen atk/spd
Slot B = Desperation
Slot C = Any C skill
Sacred seals: spd+3,atk+3
Weapon Refinery: +spd for this set, we’re going solo corrin here
So before Corrin’s stats, this set hits 50/40 atk/spd with a +spd nature, which is highly impressive. Now add in Corrins A slot, you can go 53/43, 54/44 or 57/47 all of which are solid options. Life and death should be avoided as Corrins fantastic bulk means he can easily use it to get into desperation range. Fury is best used if you want to improve all his stats, swift sparrow improves just his offence, with the brazen skill being the best choice due to working in both phases, however is extremely hard to come by.
Quick overview
Lucina has always been a good unit, solid attack and amazing speed. Did we ever doubt Lucina would falter? well in recent months of the dragon creep she faced a lot of problems and was slowly getting out classed, bring in the Falchion buff and she’s a lot better. Its like bring your Lucina to +10 merge which if at +10 merge is like +20 so yeah. Oh and now she gets seal falchion, arguably the best version for her.
Base kit
Falchion does it all, recovers hp, effective against dragons and now gives her stats, she can gain +4 to all stats if adjacent to another ally. Oh and lets not forget that Luna is a solid skill for her, as is Aether. Defiant speed adds to her amazing speed when is granting her +7 and often you can be in range get a boost, and then heal yourself. Still though she may want other A sills due to having great speed as is. Finally spur speed is the best of the spurs and means she can support units when next to them being a little cheerleader of sorts, of course though this depends on if you like spurs. Though spurs are generally outclassed by drives these days. It’s worth noting sealed falchion is now able to be used and makes for a deadly weapon on her, as +5 to all stats for being under 100% amazing.
As for filling in wings of mercy is a no brainer to keep her near allies, though vantage and desperation can be nice though generally bad due to Falchion. The other option is sword breaker. as for assists ardent sacrifice is super solid to heal other units.
Pros + Cons
+Amazing offences
+Her refine options are pretty good
+Decent hp as well
-Can’t have both falchions
-Nowi still walls her somewhat
-B slot syndrome hurts
Partners
Units who can get to Lucina when at low hp thanks to wings of mercy are ideal, so dancers are a no brainer. Hinoka is a choice as Hinoka can get the stat bonus while Lucina benefits from being next to her, infact guidance units like Tana are great partners as well.
Suggested set(s)
Our Bonds give me strength! And speed, defence and res….
Suggested ivs: +Atk/spd -res/hp
Falchion, ardent sacrifice, Draconic aura/Luna
Slot A = Atk/spd or atk/res bond, life and death, fury
Slot B = Wings of mercy, Vantage
Slot C = Any c skill
Sacred seals: Atk+3, heavy blade
Weapon Refinery: The bond version, so you can tell people your bonds give you strength, speed, defence and res
Lucina can use the power of friendship to boost all of her stats bar hp. With this alone she becomes quite the threat, while you can stack atk/spd bond onto this as well, which means when next to some one she get +9 atk and speed. Which is deadly, especially against dragon which she can always KO unless they run swordbreaker or triangle adept (in the case of blue units) As for B slots, wings of mercy is used to get next to somebody, but Vantage bumps her win streak up, letting her hit back first before the foe can counter.
You will not stop me!
Suggested ivs: +atk/spd -def/res/hp
SealedFalchion, reposition, Luna
Slot A = Life and death, fury
Slot B = Desperation
Slot C = Any C skill
Sacred seals: atk+3
Literally you just sweep through foes. +5 to all her stats is insane but mainly the extra atk/spd are much appreciated. Fury is best used for an overall boost, while life and death min maxes her and uses sealed falchions refine to patch the lost defences.
