Hardest chapter to write for Spider’s Web With Strings Attached???

Ohmigosh hi! I didn't know you'd read Spider's Web!!!!

Chapter 20: Everything

It was so hard to write because SO MUCH happens in that chapter. It's 11k words of epic moments and huge character moments and massive plot points, which was so exhausting to write. There were so many versions, notes, and snippets for this chapter that I had to compile and combine into ONE version. I had color coded bullet lists of things that needed to happen, and I STILL had to cut things out.

Funny story, I got an 9k words in and hated it, so at two in the morning I sat down with a notebook and rewrote the entire thing by hand. All my hard work payed off because 20 is one of my favorite chapters to read, so I must have done something right, I guess haha.

Chapter 26 is the one I'm currently writing and it's also really difficult, but that's more on me than the chapter, I think.

I'mma take this as an excuse to rant--

I get to take creative liberties with the formatting in order to get a certain vibe across. It's sometimes hard to translate the visuals in my head into words, so I have to use blank space to tell a story. That being said, if this were translated back into a visual (cough the opening of an episode or Rise or something), it would look something like this--

Black screen, with ticking slowly getting louder and louder. As the ticking mixes with, then fades into dripping, very faint drops and ripples in a puddle appear. We'd hear the terrified squeaks of the turtles. In the reflection of the rippling puddle, we'd see a dim, black and white reflection of the Hamatos, panning up to see them huddled in the sewers. The whole scene would take place in black and white until the light clicked on. Only then would there be color. Only then would there be light.

I can't convey things like that in writing (yet) but I'm glad the ticking and other formatting gets you just as hyped!

Important question, which side did Viper cut Leo's face markings on? I think you explained it pretty well, but my brain is twisting it around and now I'm not sure anymore.

The red is where Viper did her slashy thing. The inner part of his face, but the outer arc of the bananas.

You're all good, Anon. I've gotten a lot of questions about it and I'm a little frustrated that I haven't found an absolutely clear way to explain it so everyone understands. Oh well...

(Anon I need you to know that I couldn't find a single good, high-res picture of maskless Leo so I had to spend an entire hour learning how to draw Leo and various facial expressions JUST so I could answer this XD )

Buy what happens if big mama escapes prison!

What happens If they can't protect leo and donnie!

They wouldn't be able to protect themselves,

It would be like the kraang all over again!

I do love what if situations so...

If Big Mama escapes prison: Big Mama was humiliated. Her business and reputation were utterly destroyed. Due to Casey's excellent work, she has no assets left. If Big Mama were to escape prison, she would disappear off to Japan or something as she tries to rebuild her empire.

But, continuing with the What If and she would go after the twins... That would be very bad. For her. Because Mikey and Raph would probably try and kill her. And in a fight within their home, Leo and Donnie would kick into Self Defense Mode and attack her.

Honestly, you should be more worried what twins filled with blind rage and adrenaline and thinking they're back in the Nexus would do to Big Mama rather than what she would do to them.

Big Mama has always gotten away with everything, but once she messed with the Hamatos, she started a fight they won't let her walk away from :)

Even just a video of her set them off, so seeing her in person would be even worse. I imagine that Leo would completely shut down and Donnie would be sent spiraling. Good news though, their family will go to great lengths to make sure they never have to see her again
