BIOGRAPHY: For Gem life was the same as most boys growing up in the bustling city of Rosas in a lower nobility family. He grew up educated. He was doted upon by his parents, who called him smart and told him that he would go far.

And then, he developed magic and hurt his sister.

He was kicked out of his home and forced to fend for himself on the streets for a few years. Until, one day, he stumbled upon a cozy little shoppe tucked down a cozy street. He began to hang around with the proprietors and their various sons. One day, he simply never left. He was with the family until his wishing day--finally ready to give up his gift and live his life.

King Magnifico wouldn't grant his wish. Told him that he was too powerful to give something like that up.

In his frustration, Gem caught a banner on fire and it wasn't long before half the stage was engulfed in flame. It was put out quickly with no delay to the ceremony, but Gem escaped through the flames and out into the night. He had embarrassed the king and now the king wanted his head on a spike.

Gem made it to the docks and hopped on his first ship. For a few years, he hung around Pirate's Peninsula--learning how to sail. Eventually, he found a place on Fairy's Vengeance with Captain Tink and rose quickly to her trusted First Mate. He had a dogged loyalty that allowed him to even agree to go inland to kidnap some noble lady whose father would pay a hefty ransom for.

He thought it was a stupid idea. Until he actually met Xuemei Song. The chemistry was magnetic, and despite himself, he wound up head over heels for Xuemei. They wound up getting married and Snow took on a new name, shedding her old life. They sail the seas together now, enjoying their freedom, away from the corrupted king...

NAME: Lady Isabela Clayton

HOMETOWN: Encanto, Stargazing Plains, Rosas OCCUPATION: Noblewoman

YOUR WISH: To be beloved and admired. WHAT YOU GAVE UP: The ability to say no to someone's request. YOUR UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCE: She has no idea if people actually like her for her; or if it is just her magic. People also can get a little obsessed with her.

BIOGRAPHY: cw for minor mentions of abuse/attempted murder it's chill... Isabela grew up in a simple village in the Stargazing Plains that was often hit by raiders passing through. That was how they lost her grandfather before she'd even been born. And she lived with the anxiety of another attack.

She eagerly awaited the time she turned eighteen and traveled to the city with her father and cousin, who was only 3 months younger than her, and would receive her gift at the same time. This was how she helped her family.

She wished to be beloved and admired by all, so if people tried to attack her family. She gave up her ability to refuse anyone anything, thinking that was fine, she was already someone who tried to please others. Her powers grew from her gift, flowers blooming wherever she stepped.

Unfortunately, she hadn't thought about the distance between herself and her family. They came to the city as refugees not a few months after Isabela received her gift. Isabela made her way through the ranks of Rosas' elite. It was easy for her, until one of the nobles asked for her hand in marriage.

She couldn't refuse--so she was married to the Lord Clayton. A horribly cruel man. He made her life miserable. So miserable that she finally decided to try to take her life--and his--into her own hands...

Only, he survived and now...Isabela has to try and find another way to escape, but her marriage keeps her family afloat. Can she turn her back on people's expectations of her?

BIOGRAPHY: The story of Andrew Lipsky is one long forgotten due to how unremarkable it is. There is no hero or action or quest to speak of. It was not worth repeating and has been lost to time. But it may take up a few seconds of entertainment in times of great boredom.

The boy had been born to a servant in the castle and became one, too. As a Mundus he endured ridicule and teasing by not only the nobles he worked for, but also by the Magicks that worked in the castle. He was not special in that regard. He was not special in any regard, which makes him a rather dull protagonist and why many do not enjoy this story. Like so many others, the boy was waiting for when his time would come to go before the King and ask for his wish.

Only the boy had not gone with the intention to ask for something that would help his lot in life, he had gone with the desire to outwit and outsmart everyone, including the King himself. Instead all he showed was outrage when his wish was denied. After his display he was dragged away never to be seen or thought about again. A boring ending for a boring boy.

No one cared to know that the story did not end there. That the boy was placed in the dungeons and has resided there for years. That the boy grew into a man. A man who has known and lost many in the dark depths below the castle, and who will welcome those that have been thrown in alongside him. He has forgotten most of his own story, but is always eager to ask his fellow prisoner for their own.

NAME: Raine Whispers HOMETOWN: La Ciudad de Rosas OCCUPATION: Court Musician YOUR WISH: To get over their Stage Fright WHAT YOU GAVE UP: Their prized Viol that had been in the family for generations YOUR UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCE: Raine must perform when asked, they cannot refuse a performance request nor stop the performance early LOYALIST/REBEL/OTHER: Rebel BIOGRAPHY: Raine always loved music. They grew up learning how to play any and all instruments they could get their hands on. Unfortunately for them, they had debilitating stage fright. To perform in front of others made them feel physically ill and would send them into panic. Which was unfortunate. Especially once a member of the court heard them practicing one day and offered them a job as an official court musician. The opportunity wasn’t something they could pass up. The money they could provide for their family… 

So, they decided that that’s what they would use their wish for. To be rid of their stage fright so they could accept this job. 

It came with a cost, of course. They gave up a family heirloom and their treasured Viol, which went beyond just their instrument of choice but also their main method of spell casting. Sure, they could attune to another one but it wouldn’t be the same. 

With their wish granted and job secured, Raine had a decent time in life. Of course, there was the catch of their wish, making them unable to refuse a request to play for the court. But it was fine. They knew plenty of tunes and learned more throughout the years. 

They also learned of the darker sides to the throne. The power imbalance, the growing uncertainty of what the king was doing with all the magic he gained from those wishes. 

When not at work, they learned more about the rebellion and found their way in, helping in whatever way they could, passing along information about the palace and the court, using their position to gain useful intel. So far they’ve not been discovered, mostly because they’re seen as just a backing track to the daily goings on. They’re overlooked and underestimated and that’s exactly how they like it.

NAME: Marcy HOMETOWN: Selva Hollow OCCUPATION: Storyteller LOYALIST/REBEL/OTHER: Rebel BIOGRAPHY: Marcy was born with a Mundus mother. Her mother, who had no idea of the identity of Marcy’s father. She knew his name and what he looked like, but she didn’t know he was a fairy. Not until her daughter was born with pointed ears and sockets for wings. 

Already feeling shame for being a Mundus, her mother took her to Selva Hollow and left her on a tree stump, hoping the fairies would care for her. And they did. 

Marcy grew up always feeling a little different than the other fairies, but it didn’t bother her. She was always a little bundle of energy, loving to entertain wanderers in the woods with stories. 

Now that there are rebels around, marcy isn’t sure if she wants to be involved, but she tells them stories, and tells stories of the rebels to others who could be swayed to their cause, so maybe she is one of them. Oh well!

Lately as tensions have risen further, and Marcy has learned of her family outside of the hollow, she feels a little more inclined to help out the rebels. She’s not much of a fighter—though she’s pretty good with a bow and arrow—but she does her best to tell inspiring tales to keep spirits high and maybe use her Talent to infuse the rebels with a little bit of the strength of warriors past.

NAME: Vala, goes by Vee or Vivi or Veeve HOMETOWN: Originally, a faraway land. Currently, resides in the Pirate Peninsula. OCCUPATION: Pirate! And sometimes runs a newspaper route <3 YOUR WISH: Did not get. WHAT YOU GAVE UP: Did not give.

YOUR UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCE WHY?: Vee would rather be indebted to no one, especially if the cost was no cost at all.

BIOGRAPHY: 

This was their stupid sibling’s fault. That’s what Vala wanted to say every time they had to trudge up to the city and go to the market stalls. Rosas was a busting place with so many people, it was overwhelming!

This was their stupid sibling’s fault. That’s what Vee had to remind themselves, gratefully, as they waded back down to the water, ready to climb aboard The Black Siren, and be back on those freeing, floating waves.

The past was behind them. Vee and their sibling, sailing in from a faraway land, the wind in their favor as they look on towards their new life in Rosas. It was a place where wishes could be granted, where magick was open and accepted. 

This could be their fresh start, they promised each other.

In a way, it was a beginning to an end.

It didn’t take long for their lives to diverge. Vee didn’t want to live inland, satisfied to play pretend – that a life of quietude and manipulation was worth it. Vee’s sibling settled down with a wife and house, feeding off magic as an easy meal. Vee wouldn’t do it. Vee sought something else, something more free.

The open waves beckoned to them, every crash against the cliffs was a Siren’s song. Perhaps that’s all too accurate. Or not at all… It was the Siren Song of the Sea, The Black Siren, that saved them in the end.

Vee views the world from their crow’s nest, spyglass in hand, looking at the new and exciting horizons with wonderment and light. Reagents from all different lands float up for Vee to snack upon, to sustain them as they head to new heights, the waves carrying them onwards.

This was the life Vee craved. 

Maybe it was Vee’s fault for the breakdown between them and their sibling. Vee never got their wish. They never even wanted it.

 In a way, this was better. You couldn’t put a price on this life on the sea. In a way, this was what was always meant to be. Vee would trade nothing for their freedom.

BIOGRAPHY: from a young age, Oswald was strange. He would play with the bugs and rats that ran through the alleys. He would rather be by himself than with other kids his age. He seemed to like to be alone. Until his parents’ untimely deaths. Growing up orphaned and alone was far different than choosing to be alone sometimes. Never finding a family who wanted to take him in, never finding friends that would include him in their plans to escape, his only hope to not die alone in the streets someday was his wish. 

When it came time for his wish, he only had one thing he wanted. To not be alone anymore. He could’ve wished for anything but there was nothing more he wanted than to be free of this soul crushing loneliness. He gave up his personal freedom, willing to work for the castle however the King deemed fit. Which got him placed working in the dungeons where there were always plenty of prisoners, so he always had a purpose and was never alone. 

And then the dreams started. Dark and twisted ones, whispering in his head about death, decay, plagues. Until one day it manifested entirely in his being. A demon latched to his soul, demanding blood and destruction. Oswald obeyed by tormenting some of the prisoners, getting them to bleed so the demon could feed. What looked like callous violence from the outside was calculated and ritualistic. But his willingness for ruthlessness got him promoted to executioner, which made his demon much happier. 

The demon craves more than the weekly or monthly deaths of criminals. It wants to see the city leveled by plague. So it’s been gathering strength down in the dungeons, infecting the rats and the bugs slowly but surely to one day be able to carry out its plots.

And though his job is bleak and his days are spent in the bowels of the castle, at least he got his wish. Not only is he surrounded by interesting prisoners, but it’s hard to be lonely when there’s a leech on your soul.

NAME: Stella Johansen HOMETOWN: La Ciudad de Rosas OCCUPATION: Diplomat’s Ward YOUR WISH: For her family to no longer be Nobles  WHAT YOU GAVE UP: Family Wand and Family Name YOUR UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCE: Made her mother lose her memories LOYALIST/REBEL/OTHER: Rebel

BIOGRAPHY: Growing up in Rosas, part of a small noble family, Stella never knew what her wish would be. She had magic, she had her family, and for a long time that felt like enough. There was always a looming pressure though, that her wish had to be good. Neither of her parents had gotten one, and since her father’s passing she had a growing sense of guilt and pressure that what she did had to be good. It had to be right. 

As the time to make her wish grew closer, the pressure grew. She was coming to the age where she would inherit the title and her family’s wand as well. Her unwillingness and hesitation made a rift grow between her and her mother, culminating in a fight not long before the ceremony. Because of this, hurt and frustrated and stressed, Stella wished her family wasn’t noble anymore. That her family name and title meant nothing. 

The pressure to take over a title she never wanted faded, her family name fell into obscurity. And her mother forgot everything about herself. 

All she knew was her name. She had forgotten her life before the wish was made. She forgot her title, her home, her lost husband, and her daughter. 

Stella had always heard there were consequences, though they were so rarely talked about. Like no one dared to say or the consequences would worsen. As time went on and her mothers memories showed no sign of returning, Stella grew angry. She wanted the wish undone. But she had been stupid enough to wish it all away, her chance at a title and a magical lineage, why would it be given back to her. 

Since then, Stella has been living as a ward of a diplomat, spending her days playing the part of a good little ward, taking all her lessons, learning to be a diplomat herself one day. And by night, she sneaks off into the forest to plot with the rebels. She will undo her wish, one way or another.
