Weekday Brunches
Guys, something is really happening. I’m convinced I feel extra woke when I eat gluten free through some sort of placebo effect. It could also be a by product of society and my need to feel cool and accepted by everyone.
I went to brunch the other day at Sycamore Kitchen which is the absolute SPOT. Evertyhing at Sycamore gives me the reason not to give up and run away deep into the suburbs (not the Arcade Fire banger, these burbs').
I sat down and was brought this pastry I must’ve ordered in my Tuesday morning haze. That’s correct, I brunch any day of the week. My refusal to conform and get a ‘normal’ job that pays me with money instead of internet fame has real benefits usually reserved for celebrities like Cameron Diaz.
To sum it up, this was one for the top 10 pastries I’ve ever had. It was crisp, moist, lemony, and FUCKING GLUTEN FREE. This is not a #sponsoredpost by the gluten free society of the world- tho give me a shout fam. Will def sell out for the right price.

Tip: Go on a nice day- there’s a ton of outdoor seating to sun your pasty legs in.
Pricing: Pork belly hash $11.50, most pastries ($3-4), latte $3.75

SYCAMORE KITCHEN // Mid-City
First Glance: Looks beautiful, salt on top (bueno), crispy edge. Made with rye flour. And caraway seeds. I am hopeful.
First Bite: An ever changing taste and aftertaste of unwelcome bitterness/nuttiness.*
Chew Factor: Truly excellent chew. Soft middle, crisp edge.
Chocolate: Very good dark slivers of chocolate mixed throughout.
The Last Crumb: Loved the salt, the chew, the chocolate, the texture, but the tangy rye flour completely dominates.
*The wife did not taste the bitter rye qualities & found the cookie excellent, as did friend of wife.
