Do you love/hate/don’t feel strongly about this character? Omg I used to hate her and then suddenly I loved her unconditionally!!
What’s your favorite trait of this character? Her loyality, her strenght, her fighting spirit, and her bow and arrows !
What’s your favorite moment/even involving this character? Maybe where she says ‘with all the family I’ve lost I could use some friends’
If you could have one power/attribute/etc. of this character, what would it be? Her strong will and determination
When did you fall in love/hate with this character? I you don’t have any strong feelings toward them, why not? I think it was the scene in Fireflies? Where she’s on the bus and putting the finger over her mouth to tell Isaac to keep quiet about her being there?
1. of the fic you’ve written, which are you most proud of?
atm, definitely of fame and fortune. it’s the longest fic i’ve written since i was fifteen, and idk... i just feel like the world building and characterization are where i want them to be.
4. what are some themes you love writing about?
romantic love, definitely - i love writing that falling in love stage, and that first meet where there’s a spark, and they react to it in their unique ways. i love what love brings out of people, and i adore writing that. specifically though, relationship negotiation and people being happy while still dealing with their demons, i really like writing about that.
6. thoughts on critique
critique, especially constructive critique, is really important to me, and i think that it’s a real shame that we’ve lost a lot of that as fandom evolves. it was much more common in lj/ffn days to leave commentary, including good critiques, and i’m trying to get myself back into the habit of doing so when i read fic now. i especially love the sandwich rule for critique!!
1.) In terms of concept, It’s a story I’m posting soon and have hinted to here, In terms of ones I’ve stuck with and enjoyed and really learned more about myself, For What It’s Worth lightybulb you know it’s true
4.) I love the theme of breaking a character completely mentally and physically and having their love pick them back up and show them that it’s okay things get better, but at the same time I’m all for a gentle high school love filled with fluff to the brim.
This was fun! And I’m sure I’ve missed some things where my self awareness is lacking :P
3. You have to erase one of your fics from existence forever. Which one and why?
Omg that’s a tough one. I guess it would have to be “Bite Me” because it’s the only fic I’ve never finished and don’t think I will finish it in the future either. Most of my fics I’m okay with now, even though I may not like the writing or characterisation in them or they make me cringe a bit. They all had a purpose at the time and I'd like to believe that by writing them I did become a better writer. It might have been trying to capture a mood or just writing something for a friend to make them happy. If someone enjoyed it then I’m okay with leaving them be now!
4. How much do you trust the reader?
I guess that doesn’t really matter since once something is posted, it’s out of your hands. People will find things in your words that you didn’t mean to say or make accusations and well, there’s nothing you can do about that. I think simply by writing and posting, you’re forced to put your trust in the reader, you're posting a little bit of yourself after all! 99.99% of readers are awesome and amazing and even if our perceptions are different, I'm happy to trust them and their reading (and I actually love finding out people have found different meanings in my words). I have had run ins with the .01% though, makes it harder to post when you know people like that are out there.
6. What’s your guilty pleasure as a writer?
This is really tough because I immediately began to think of my guilty pleasures as a reader! As a writer it's probably lurking when I find people talking about my fics haha. I feel like it's the only time you get completely honest feedback because people tend not to give you real criticism to your face. As for when I'm actually writing, I may moan about it sometimes but I really do love writing sex scenes, especially kinky ones haha.
9. Are there any unintentional trends in your writing?
Oh gosh I'm sure there are many that I haven't even noticed yet but what I am totally aware of:I tend to start of writing something "light" while also thinking "I'll include a little angst too". It always ends up very dramatic even when I'm trying for levity. There are certain pet peeves of mine that I hate reading in fic so I go out of my way to avoid them in my own writing. This unfortunately ends up in things like my abuse of the word "says" or over describing the positions and movements of characters. I also tend to go too far in the wrong direction when I try to avoid overly flowery description (depending on how it’s used). I end up going too far and sometimes I worry my descriptions can be lacking or feel too sterile.I strive to stay in character which means sometimes my fic ends up drawn out because I keep thinking "oh no, it'll take longer for this character to make that decision/come around to this way of thinking". This means my fics end up much longer than I planned!I'm sure there's other stuff that people can see that I'm not aware of. I think it's good to be aware of this stuff though so if it's something bad you can work on fixing it.
