‘we’re just here for the suites’
the trick to this venture is to align both ships up together, without the other ship knowing about it, which means they can’t hook up onto the zion through normal means. usually, when one ship connects with the other, they sync up gravities, position each vessel in accordance with the other, so that the docking stations match and the crew or passengers can freely walk from one boat to the other. but this has to be wholly different, this has to be sneaky, has to be secret, so they can’t completely merge the normal way, can be anywhere the cruise liner might find them or catch them. in order to do this, serenity’s gravity must remain intact, while her bottom opening lines up with an opening on the floor of the zion, the two gravities meeting, but not connecting.
it’s fun little game of operation that jaewon and his crew have actually pulled off before, but it’s been a while, and it’s by no means easy to carry out. jaewon busies himself in the cargo bay for a little over two hours in preparation, helping henry and whoever else is in the mood to be useful, getting ready. he doesn’t mind the work honestly, anything to keep his mind off the possibility of failure.
word should come in any time now, but there are still a few people moving into the cargo bay to see how the operation is progressing, presumably getting ready to join in on the heist. jaewon tends to only keeps track of his crew members who are coming aboard usually, figuring the passengers are able to make decisions for themselves, being grown-ups and all. he’s not slated to be anyone’s babysitter, not here for the mess or concentration it would require to keep tabs on absolutely everyone who is interested. he couldn’t give less of a shit, surely—if they want to endanger their own lives, that’s up to them.
that is, until skye comes into view.
“no,” he flat out tells him, just as soon as their eyes meet. he stands up tall, his eyes ringing out a warning. skye is a headache jaewon refuses to let fester on this mission. “no.”
