The Fire In Mine Eyes:
“In my experience, there are two kinds of men…
The heroic knights and brave kings of fairytales, who stand noble and true,
And those who are content to watch the world to burn to ash with no thought of me or you.
A battle between two parallels, and call it what you will,
But light or dark, good or bad, one must always prevail.
Growing up I read the stories, the hero always won,
Villains were to be cast aside, shamed and without love.
Time after time, taken down a peg, one at a time like Christmas lights,
But no matter how cold they were, the villain still had a fire.
See, now I’m grown and clearly see what these philosophies got wrong,
The hero ends up winning, but the villain is more strong.
Because no matter how badly bruised they get, there’s still a fire in thine eyes,
That I never truly understood until I saw the same in mine."
