A Scandal in Fur Date: Two Days Before the Full Moon
I woke up this morning to the sound of Ivy yelling, “Wisp! You better not be in labor on my good rug!” which is not something anyone expects to hear before coffee. I bolted out of bed and nearly tripped over Maple, who was standing in the hallway with the most judgmental look on her face. Honestly, I thought maybe Wisp had eaten something weird.
Turns out... no. She hadn’t eaten anything weird. She was having kittens.
I repeat: MY CAT HAD KITTENS. No warning. No signs. No little meows that sounded like, “Hey girl, I’m expecting.” Nothing. Just surprise, here’s life!
The kicker? They're not Thistle’s. Nope. Our dreamy-eyed black cat with the mismatched eyes had nothing to do with this. The father is none other than Mayor Whiskers.
Yes. That Mayor Whiskers. Bringer of order. Wearer of top hats. Unapologetic charmer of the entire neighborhood. Apparently, he’s been running more than just city hall…
And now we have two perfect, tiny tuxedo kittens, both girls. Wisp, for all her free-spirited energy, is a very attentive mama. She curls around them like a silver stormcloud, purring low and steady. Watching her is like witnessing a spell in motion.
I’ve named them Luna and Sol — moon and sun. It just felt right. Luna is quiet, curious, and watches everything with wide eyes like she’s reading the world. Sol is louder, bolder, and already tried to climb my slipper. I adore them.
I don’t know what kind of magic brought these kittens into our lives, but I’ve stopped questioning things like that. The land has a funny way of giving you exactly what you didn’t know you needed.
Welcome to the chaos, Luna and Sol. May your little paws always find soft earth, warm sunbeams, and just enough mischief.
“That’s what happens when you let a lady cat go courting after curfew.” — Ivy, completely unfazed and sipping her tea like she didn’t just become a great-grandmeowther
