sylviasybil replied to your post: oh by the way: as much as I love Brooklyn...
too late, you’ve convinced me to watch this.
it is a really good show! and this is the only example cassidy and i have noticed of lazy jokes (of the "haha [stereotype]" variety
but i figure folks should at least know that episode has those terrible fat-shaming jokes, so you can make the decision whether to skip it or not.
APART FROM THAT i totally endorse this show. which is all on hulu.
Cristina Yang from Grey's Anatomy is so definitively autistic. She's more autistic than the canon autistic person. She talks like me ("babies aren't actually cute, their oversized eyes trigger a flood of hormones in the human brain") and her dance-it-out routine is like verbatim how I deal with stress.
You are definitely some kind of a skeleton monster. Maybe a ghostlike one, but I see you with a skeletal grin.
I don't think anyone is objecting to dressing up as Anne Frank, but specifically to the yellow star on the costume. Since the star was used to dehumanize people, they feel it is disrespectful to include it when dressing as her. A lot of terrible things "actually" happened in history, but that doesn't make it okay to casually imitate them.
Ah, I can understand that, and I think I agree. I would probably have advised her to wear one of those little name tags instead, if she was truly that worried about people not being able to figure it out. I thought people were objecting to her dressing as Anne Frank in general, but what you say makes much more sense.

it’s kind of random - but rookiemag.com introduced me to feminism…it’s not solely about feminism though - more about being a teenage
i hadn't! it looks interesting though, thanks for the suggestion :D!
