I'm finally posting my piece for @tolkienrsb 2021. It was meant to be an in-universe painting of Mairon, and I had a lot of fun trying to get the whole noble atmosphere down.

My partner @symbieote is writing an amazing fic to go with this!

Summary:

"It was the epitome of order. It was the only thing in Arda still untouched by Morgoth. It was mathematically incapable of decay. Nothing would corrupt its stillness, nothing would dissipate its corruption. It was Sauron as he once was. In after years, he would never again return to such a state of physical perfection. Time, once lost, would never return. Yet like a strand of Tree-light glittering from a Silmaril, some things could be suspended in perfection. It was a treasure, in some sense of the word - someone had treasured it, surely, once."

Sauron has declined and diminished in the intervening years, but his dreams of order and empire remains as vivid as the day they were conceived. He is a lieutenant, a deceiver, a tyrant, but above all he is a ruler of men.

Hi Aimee, ive really enjoyed reading your fics, and all your fun AUs actually they inspired me to try posting one of my own ff7 AUs. Would it be cool for me to write a fic set in the cursed to strife verse where cloud visits my AU? I love how he gets to see so many different universes. No pressure either way, I totally understand if you don't want a stranger playing with your characters. Thanks for always putting out such great fics, and so prolifically too. Didn't she go quiet because of the extremely toxic online harassment against her? The rumours of her imprisonment seen to mainly stem from her antis actively spreading the lie to try discredit her and hoping that she would fall to the astringent censorship laws... Im personally very invested in the web novel scene and in Jinjiang especially and the recent purge was a huge concern, and obviously the two landmark cases I care about hugely, but this is. Fearmongering.

Ah! I... really know absolutely nothing about the situation myself, uh, perhaps obviously. I’d sort of wondered why we didn’t seem to hear anything from the original author these days--if it’s the comparatively benign “offline for her own mental wellbeing” then I am glad to hear it!

(I have no idea what I could do if that’s not the case, other than “feel vaguely anxious about a person I can do nothing to help” so... good to know that maybe/probably that is not warranted anyway! So far!)

some background, this is from a fic a friend asked me to write about our ffxiv ocs, but it mostly centers around the relationship between her and another friend's ocs milfeulle and silas

i definitely got too caught up in trying to make it perfect and psyched myself out. i think i started this about a year ago klgdnkl but now that i've stepped away from it for a while and re-read it with fresh eyes i think i want to get back to working on it again

Lol I'm so bad at hot takes. I guess mine is like...things in the Silm happen Because Story, and I sometimes find it frustrating to see arguments that boil down to like, judging these characters who are essentially in a myth by contemporary standards of goodness, and the way that plays out most often being "my blorbo is better than your blorbo/your blorbo is a murderer." All the blorbos are in a myth! More specifically I find it so ridiculous that people can talk about Elwing abandoning Elrond and Elros with a straight face because she is the mythiest person in the myth.
