I step out for an evening and y’all Goncharov a new Billy ship???
Never underestimate the Billy fandom's commitment taking a random character and fleshing them out just for funnsies (so they can fuck Billy real good)
Something something Hawkins weirdness, something something Billy gets split into teo halves. One is the side they're familiar with, the brash, loud, aggressive side that behaves 100% like the crew expects him to. And then the other half with all the traits Billy represses, who is shy and kind and full of smiles and softness but also deeply wounded and flinches at everything. They get nicknamed Ares and Hephaestus respectively. (Steve is their Aphrodite). Not sure where any of that is going but I thought it was neat.
People thought it would be easier dealing with this new, more reserved Billy but honestly? They know nothing about him. They don't know his enjoyments, what motivates him, how he feels about people around him...With the Billy who acts like the Billy they are used to seeing it's so much easier to know what to say and do, how to react to his actions and words.
Hephaestus Billy is a new, almost dangerous for everyone Billy to deal with, having to stick their foot in their mouths on multiple occasions.
Yes, embrace Lady Gaga'd Steve with me~
I’ve embraced it and I have some sorta feelings regarding this frame. Harringrove related. I’m blaming you entirely.
Ask for you: What is your *weirdest* take about Billy Hargrove? Like could never explain in a million years but you feel it in your bones.
ooh interesting question, hmm...
I think despite loving the sun he's got that thing where sun light (or any bright enough light) makes him sneeze.
thanks for the ask!
YOU know Buffy! I've had the greatest desire to write a Gen Z reboot of it (cause I think those kids have enough weird slang to hack it) but there's one thing that won't leave my mind and I need to scream about it. I dont wanna do the soul route with Spike, I think it flattened him out and made him kinda boring. What I WANT is for Buffy to become his Jiminy Cricket. I really want to see them in a tricky situation after having had the moral compass talk. I want so badly to hear Spike say the words "Point me North, Slayer." Don't know why but it won't leave me in peace.
It's a good line.
I do tend to think Spike getting his soul was a cop out, and a boring end to the kind of interesting idea his situation brought up; that morality, empathy, goodness, whathaveyous are learned. That they can be learned even without a soul. And that being good is an ongoing, daily choice, rather than innate or some kind of finish line.
But I do see similar problems with forcing someone else to be his moral compass long term.
So, I see your line, and I raise you her answering him, "You know which way is North. You just need face it."
(pun unfortunately intended)

“No more strange men,” he says.
Billy gives him a drunken little salute, “Got it, Chief; only men I know.”
“No men!" Jim booms, "Boys! Age-appropriate boys!” This is such a goddamn weird conversation, he doesn’t even know what he’s saying. Billy definitely isn’t absorbing any of it in any useful way. Jim decides to call it a night.
Hopper's adventures in foster dad-ing (he's doing his best)
Thank you!
What is the weirdest headcanon you like for Billy?
I dunno if this counts as weird per se, maybe more just random, but I like the idea that he has this thing with lyrics. He memorizes them after one, maybe two times, hearing a song through. Which means he knows all the words to songs he hates which annoys him a lot because they get stuck in his head sometimes. Also drives him up a wall when people sing the wrong words, but he can’t correct them without revealing that he knows all the words to a Bryan Adams song.
Thanks for the ask!
I'm stranded at a garage AMA!
