Challenge 141: Story Time Through Patterns: Wedding
There is an astonishing shortage of interesting patterns in ties these days—especially bow ties—and I’ve been looking for a good one for my wedding later this year. So I decided to make my own. My pattern collection obviously focuses on nautical themes (because it is me). My main design is comprised of the historic coastal lighthouses of North Carolina and various other ship and sea related elements. Interspersed throughout the design are the initials of my fiancée and myself in Morse code, as well as the nautical signal flag for “Yes.” My second design is a much more open pattern of boats and sea elements, meant to be reminiscent of the wide openness of the ocean. My final pattern is the same Morse code initials from my main design, this time arranged in a subtle pinstripe. After seeing how my mock-ups looked for this project, I am definitely planning to try making some ties from these designs.
