Now i may have just read 1 wikipedia article about ben smith and skimmed 1 article to find out what he meant by resistance journalism but. He's the one who published the trump documents no one else wanted to touch. Vs ronan farrow? Meticulously sourcing and fact checking his work and showing how he did so in a published book which i did read with a critical eye.

Like from just the most superficial perspective it seems a little hypocritical

that’s part of what was so gallingly hypocritical -- smith has arguably the biggest resistance journalism stain on his record of any journalist working today but he gets an nyt column and suddenly he wants to talk about how ronan farrow is a supposedly sloppy resistance journalist who leaves out details to push narratives in an opinion column that had to immediately be corrected twice and left out key details to push a narrative he wanted readers to believe with a clickbait hack headline? give me a break.

I know i just reblogged that post but you're right actually �� i definitely have more sci-fi written by women and as a kid/teen i think i was also at 50/50. I think the post more reflects the bias of who makes it to the top of bestsellers lists, which. Is a different conversation entirely

it definitely is - but that makes it even more frustrating, honestly. there are so many women who are writing fantasy, and have been writing fantasy, at all levels of quality and popularity, for so long, that saying "oh, fantasy is all dude books with weird sex in them" is both inaccurate and insulting.

do you have a link to the exceptionally strong beer video? in the interest of my 5-monthly potential sparking of the Beer Guy Gene (i'm belgian and the gene has yet to be sparked but every five months i think: what if i became a beer guy) and because it sounds like a very wholesome video to watch people talk about craft manufacturing processes and also cause the article mentioned eisbock which is a concept i have yet to wrap my head around

yeah it’s here! the video goes into the process of making eisbock as well (and the channel in general i think is pretty good if you want to go exploring but like, it is run by two white guys who occasionally....idk how to put this nicely.....show their privilege so be forewarned, but that’s kind of unavoidable in The Scene )

Her favorite drama is Mad Ship Romance 3. One time, she met the Lord of the Radch on Omaugh Station, and she told her she was annoying. One time, Fleet Captain Breq punched her in the face. It was awesome.

once it’s done it’s just a condiment! essentially it’s gonna be the texture of raw garlic but taste closer to cooked garlic (i.e. won’t burn when you eat it) and you can use it in dips, dressing, pasta salad, anything like that. also, by the very nature of fermentation, it’s gonna have some probiotic qualities, which means 1) in theory it’ll be good to have on hand if you get sick and 2) as long as you don’t heat it up, if you put it in your food it’ll be healthy!

right now i’m taste-testing about once a week, and once i like the way it tastes i’m gonna move it to the fridge (at this point hopefully it will have slowed down enough that it won’t smell anymore, and tbh i might even transfer it to a new jar just in case?) - technically you can leave it out once it’s done and as long as it’s sealed it’ll be okay, but the fridge will keep it in sort of a fermentation stasis and room temperature will make it ferment further, and i just can’t eat a full pint of garlic that fast. estimates for when it’ll be fridge-ready range from two weeks to two months, it’s really just a question of personal preference.

anyways tldr it just becomes a cool fun slightly-healthy condiment that i can put on food, and brag about at dinner parties or whatever

the things that have inspired my current campaign...

My first and only campaign was just standing in the big square in sienna reading a tourist guidebook or maybe a wikipedia article about saints and also their whole very early renaissance democracy and being like. This Could Be Something.

i love this! i get a ton of inspiration from Cool Places and also history. almost all of the government / monarchy / politics of my campaign has been drawn from real-life stuff.

im not even gonna google bc im still fucked up about this thing i learned in physics a couple weeks ago which is that when something approaches the event horizon of a black hole to an outside observer they would never see it actually enter the black hole bc time slows down compared to the observer to basically a stop but to the thing approaching the event horizon they would experience time normally like what the fuck is that. who the fuck.

also can someone explain dark matter to me in a way that involves no math or bullshit pls

i love socks! i have a variety of fun socks. i recently bought some handmade ones from etsy that im excited about. i have some white socks but for the most part it’s fun socks only babeyyy (fun socks including fair isle style pattern and striped bc i am still boring as hell)
