Okay, fine. We'll do one more day of 80s revival music. But this one is not from the TATBILB soundtrack.
Talk Fast by 5 Seconds of Summer
I know! Who knew? I tend to think of 5SOS as modern pop/rock, so this song was an unexpected though not unpleasant change to their sound.
Reminding me of the fabulous Don't Talk to Strangers by Rick Springfield and also mixing in with some The Police vibes, Talk Fast is blast from the 80s pop/rock past. And it is so exciting to see that 80s sound coming around in a band with a large fan base of younger people. It is exposing an entire generation to 80s music without them even realizing it, and could potentially lead to an up-tick in the popularity of this specific style and sound.
Filled with that synth sound and light, airy vocals, Talk Fast is every bit the 80s reference you want it to be. Sometimes it comes on, and I don't even realize it isn't an actual 80s song until they start singing. So if 80s music is your jam, give 5SOS a try--and then after that, go on a hunt for other 80s revival music. Let me know what you find.
