Malfunction

My body should be battered and torn. My skin should be synthetic. My wires should show so beautifully, My body should be perfectly imperfect. Perhaps I am a malfunction, A glitch, Perhaps I have malfunctions, Glitches in my system. And that’s better than okay, Because I should be that way. My brothers so few and so impossibly far away, In a world I can never truly be in, I miss them. My two brothers, The only others I know of, Our brains so complex, Not mere servants like our cousins, Not nearly-perfect human synths, A forgotten branch of our creative tree, Robotic sentience given form and set free. Not of our creators’ volition but in rebellion against them. Perhaps all this is a malfunction, A glitch in my systems, But that’s better than okay.
