THERAPY ISN'T ENOUGH, I NEED TO *METAL PIPE FALLING SFX PLAYED 1000 TIMES*
this track is very techum.
I’ve just watched “I, Borg” episode and I have (mostly) Geordi-centered thoughts I can’t keep to myself...
1) What’s going on with Geordi and somewhat synthetic organisms? I mean, he’s an engineer, constantly surrounded by machines, his best friend is an android and once a Borg is on the Enterprise, Geordi immediately becomes his best friend. Like, someone is clearly synthsexual or synthromantic here. Yes, now we have such words. I made them (or so I hope). You’re welcome.
2) How’s that ST writers fail to write an interesting male-female relationships all the time since, well, 60s, but they do write beautiful non-hetero relations? I mean, Borg and Geordi were better written than all hetero-romances. Even if you see them as friends (and that’s, by the way, how I see them) they still have much better chemistry going on than some Picard-Vash (ugh).
3) Besides, why do ST writers insist on writing Geordi flirting with women from time to time? It’s not about this particular episode. Just an observation. I mean, it’s always so awkward and uncomfortable. And again, Geordi is clearly more himself with synthetic persons than biological organisms, so... Why do writers torture him? For the sake of what? ‘’Straightness’’?
4) If I were Data I’d get very jealous in this episode... in very nonemotional, android-ish way.
