i love having a therapy session with my therapist who is like 'okay so we're gonna work on exposure therapy and doing art therapy to express your thoughts in a safe and healthy way' and then i come on this site and ppl are like 'thoughts and expressing those thoughts are bad, youre a terrible person if you ever think these thoughts, especially if you draw/write about it' but then i gently remove/block those ppl and open clip studio and ao3 and my heart heals again

tifu by realizing im dating solid snake.

posting this here instead of reddit because i want to believe in the illusion that my partner will not find this. but, as you can tell by the title. he probably will. anyways.

so. it all started the first time i met him about 8 years ago. he is interesting, weird. very weird. he has a funny cowboy kermit the frog accent, and i am a simple person. so i dated him because he seemed like a silly guy. sure, he was a bit of a robot with his personality, and a bit of a. well. a perv, but alas. i was interested in this freaky fellow.

so, as the years passed, he would nonstop talk about one of his favorite games, metal gear solid series. and i, a supportive partner that i am, told him that one day id play it or watch fan made cutscene-mashed movies of it.

well, we watched a bit, the lore seemed deep. the memes were peak. i learned about nanomachines and standing here, i realize, i was interested in playing this game. to learn about the famous solid snake and other noteable characters.

so, wanting to ease into it, i asked one of my friends to play and stream it for us.

and god. this was a mistake.

as my friend played, and all 3 of us watched the beginning of mgs, we slowly are introduced to solid snake's personality. at first we thought it was a coincidence. like, hey, this snake guy acts a bit pervy like my partner. and hey, this snake guy is a little cringe in an endearing and goofy way.

but oh. we were not prepared. you see, dear reader, my partner is infamous for one thing. one liners. yes, in games, my partner would pull out a gun, or prepare to do some dramatic thing, only to throw out a single, cringey, cheesy, one liner that would either make us groan or yell at him for jinxing himself.

but then we saw it. this solid snake guy. pulling out a gun, and saying the most unhinged one liner. a coincidence, right? then it happened again. and again. and. well. we all knew from that moment.

when my partner said he grew up on metal gear games, how much he loves the series, and how its his entire childhood. we did not expect how literal that was. it was like watching my partner's soul move around in this video game. and me and my friend were witnessing his pixelated soul fight and sneak in real time.

worst part is, my friend is going to continue playing it tomorrow.

im celebrating my birthday all month and i am very happy

every good news, every good treat, and everything happy i receive this month is literally a birthday gift, no exceptions. the world is giving me a present with every butterfly and moth that flies near me. the sodie pop that got cold super quick in the fridge is a present by the world. the cool breeze helping against the heat wave is a present by the world. those receiving good and peaceful news is a present by the world.
